"I always favored calling the new one the Ford GT44, but Ford decided on just "GT". " Yes, plus the person that owned the name "GT-40" wanted to jack Ford around on it. This joker wanted some ungodly terms and conditions in order for Ford to use the name. Agree on the "350" but I think it wouldn't fit the car. Drag pack? That is a blast from the past - ... "Couldn't call it GT350 as, if this is true, that vehicle was as named because the building where Shelby originally was in was 350 feet from the main airport building or hanger. Can someone clarify this?" Yep, 'tis true. But it was totally a random designation (and now great Mustang trivia question), so no reason the new GT "350" couldn't be named so. :) Kinda like the old Ford GT40, partially ... Read More

The car incorporates some things I would do if I had a regular GT: Lowered ride height: Seems OEMs want to go with that "raked" look - so late 70s-early 80's midwest & east-coast where the rear-end was jacked-up in the sky and the front-end in the dirt. The V6s seem especially prone to this. Not knocking the midwest where I'm from or the east coast, I just like it low ... Read More

More like a $10k price hike compared to a base GT. I agree on the value part. Not very good.

Car looks gross, overstated, vulgar. Hood scoop just ruins the lines of the car. Am reminded of the VW add in which people are shown trying to compensate for their shortcomings through their cars. The performance mods, cold intake, etc., don't justify the $6k plus hike in price. The best thing Ford could do to improve the Mustang, imo, is offer an optional independent rear suspension.

Nice looking car and I really appreciate the chassis mods and shorter rear gear but for $35 large it should be making 350 HP minimum. Heck, then they could call it a "GT350" and never think twice about it!

I wonder why they aren't referring to the new car as a 'Shelby GT350' rather than just a 'Shelby GT'? Yes, I know it doesn't make 350hp; neither did the original GT350. Also - they need to lose the chrome 'GT' emblem on the fender. It looks dumb to have BOTH a chrome 'GT' emblem and 'Shelby GT' on the sidestripes. Love the Hurst cue ball shifter.

I love it! Ford "FINALLY" put a damn side scoop and a hood scoop on the car. The new Mustang needed side scoops and a hood scoop badly. It looked "LAME" without them. I also like the side stripes and the Bullitt wheels. Maybe Ford will get it right with the next new 2009/2010 Mustang body design. Or maybe not.

1 - I'd expect a "freshening" in 2007 with a possible major rework in 2010 based on recent comments from Ford. No way to really tell for sure though. 2 - Paint is the best type of racing stripe. The new vinyls are really good and with clearcoat paint fade isn't really a big problem, but it is possible. 3 - not likely to be a factory option.

The 67-68 was radically different from the 65-66 but there were the Mustang styling cues and I don't think a 67 Mustang could ever be thought to be anything but a Mustang. Same for the 69 thru ...
