    Your only recourse is to find a convertible top repair shop in your area. This won't be a cheap fix, either, so be aware and do some shopping around if you can.     I assume that when I took the car to the Ford Dealership that they looked at it and tested it. Prior to taking it to the dealership, I had a friend look at it and he informed me that the alternator was putting out enough volt's, if he was wrong then I firgued that the dealership would have caught it.

    Just picked the car up from Ford and they found nothing wrong with it and no error codes, The only thing that they can figure at this point is that it possibly vapor locked.

    I will let all of you know what Ford has to say as I just dropped the car off, and found out that the car was actually dying and restarting, I never knew an automatic could restart itself while driving down the road. Most of my cars have been OLD POS'S. Thanks for your responses.

    Hey fastdogs. I have an update for you. I had my local Ford dealership replace the TPS sensor and you are abolutely correct It my a world of difference. The car has more power, the throttle response 100% better and I think that the mpg has increased. Thanks partner. Keep the Stangs rolling.

    I am having the exact same problem with my 2005 GT. The only difference is that mine have an automatic transmission. My local Ford dealer has told the same thing, that they cannot find anything wrong. May we need to contact our regional Ford director. Yes you are right there is no set pattern to this problem.

    Its not normal, Ford has a TSB out on the lash adjusters, but wont warrant the work if you are out of 36K limit! Very expensive repair, its their design problem because they corrected it, supposedly, after about March 2008. You think they would own up to their mistakes! This damages rockers and cam if left unfixed. :(

    As one of the guys already said, the noise of this may come from lifters but don't confuse this with valve raddle from low grade gas. try 91 verses 87 octane and make sure that your timing is where it should be 10 to 15 BTDC. 10 is factory.

    Sorry to hear of your woes...what state are you in? Here in Florida our lemon law is pretty solid. Write a personal letter to Ford's CEO, outline the problem, attempted resolution, people you talked to at Ford, and final outcome (involving BBB).     My Fusion doesn't hesitate. It might be normal or it could be a clogged fuel filter - easy enough to change. If it's still under warranty have the dealer check it.

    The ticking is coming from the hydraulic lifters. They tick until the oil pressure builds up in them. The hesitation is because of the electronic throttle. It's not just a Mustang problem. Virtually all cars with an electronic throttle have the hesitation problem; some worse than others.

    I have a ticking noise coming from the engine, it is worse when I first start it in the morning. I also have a problem that when I accelerate hard it will sometimes hesitate before taking off. This especially a problem when passing someone.

    dude, the problems you are referring to are mostly GT issues not the V6. go read the real mustang forum boards and you will read all about these issues. Most are 2005 problems. The gas tank issue did cross all models.

    Consumer Reports: Mustang 2004 reliability looks excellent. MSN Auto: Reliability excellent. JD Powers mechanical looks like an excellent rating as well. The 2005 is rated lower on JD Powers for mechanical than the 2004. The 2005 and 2006 overall is a pretty good rating.
