Ford Mustang (2005) vs. 2005 Pontiac GTO

Re: Another good C&D comparo quote [gunit]

I like the GTO you don't. Thats cool. Hey, I like the GTO as well, and think it deserves alot of respect. If I was to win one, I wouldn't necessarily drive straight to the Ford dealer to trade it. I mainly jumped into this discussion to defend the Mustang rather than beat up on the GTO, sorry if it sounds that way. It's just that if I was spending my money, I'd buy the Mustang. ... Let the market decide

Pontiac GTO: Heavy incentives by the end of its' first year on the market! GM begs its loyalists with unheard of additional incentives for GM credit card holders. Even this won't help them meet their sales goals, and many 2004 models sit unloved on dealers' lots well into 2005. Ford Mustang: No sign of discounts, not to mention incentives! Quite the contrary, ... Read More...

Re: This is great..... [bobthephotoguy]

Just checked with Arizona's largest Ford dealer. Ernhardt Ford. They have 27 05 Mustangs and 7 are GT models. They have MSRP listed on them with a note of 'make offer'. Check Edmund's TMV, Still around MSRP for GT and not far below for V6. "Make offer?" How about invoice price, less 3-4k in rebates, less 5-6k GM card bonus bucks on a 2004 GTO! Read More...

benderofbows wrote.......(By the way, even the old body style 2004 Mustangs were all gone before the Brand New 2004 GTOs!)..... Incorrect, the 2004 Mustangs were NOT all gone before the new 2004 GTO, not sure where you got that info because in my area near NY City here....there are still NEW 2004 Mustangs on the Ford Dealer parking lot by me with heavy incentives ... Re: Let the market decide [benderofbows]

Hmm. You are Pontiac marketing. Let's launch a 350 hp RWD sports car primarily in the Midwest, in the middle of winter, follow it up with virtually NO marketing or ads, and let our dealership body throw $5-$10k of ADM on the price. Said dealership body generally also won't allow test-drives without a signed purchase contract. Keep building cars until October ... Read More...

Ford Mustang Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Re: Mustang orders....allocation. [graphicguy]

Hey, thanks much for that article, it helped confirm my dilemma...I ordered my Premium Mustang GT in November 2004....6 months ago! My phone call to Ford customer service last week gave me news that they are short on the V8 engine, and one of the questions I was asked was did I order the "My Color" option? Which yes, of course I did. They told me that Ford never expected ... Read More...

Below invoice

Lots of cars are sold below invoice. Sure the GT Stang may not for a few more months, or maybe give it two years - hard to tell. Sooner or later, it will sell at invoice or lower, if you are saying only a $2,500 mark up. I do not believe that the invoice is the bottom line. Too many other payments must go to the dealerships. Otherwise, why would anyone assume the risk of a ... Read More...

Re: 2005 Mustang V 6 Gas problems [fatsicle2]

This discussion is about Mustangs 2004 and earlier. You should post your question in the Ford Mustang (2005+): Problems & Solutions where your model year and problems are being discussed. Read More...

Bullitt

Only miscue with the Bullitt IMO is that it sports the GT's fake hoodscoop. The side scoops were changed to a wonderful streamlined, "scoopless" style, but the hood scoop remained the same. If Ford had gone with the same reverse-scoop hood that was used on the 2003-2004 V6 Mustangs (which itself is from the 1999 Cobra)...it would have made the Bullitt even more ... Read More...

Ford Mustang Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Re: coming off the sales of Stangs for $15k [m1miata]

Yes, I have to agree with you m1miata. My wife purchased a new 2004 GT premium last October for well below the sticker including rebates. It is a shame that Ford finally has a mass-produced vehicle that produces some excitement for the average Joe who remembers the 65 experience and then reverts to the mark-up mania usually reserved for truly "got-to-have" vehicles ...
