I just drove a 2004 GT V - 8 260 hoursepower at my local dealer. Its a leftover model and the dealer was anxious to get rid of it. The problem was that the car was sluggish. I really had to push down on the accelerator. Once it got to 3rd gear it was fine and ran well. But frankly the acceleration was disappointing. They majorly underestimated the demand for the GT...as you can see from a few of my postings here, I ordered mine in November of 2004!! And yes, I'm quite disgusted. Plus to top it off I ordered from a dealer that has low allocation. I was told by my dealer that 13,000 cars (GT's) ordered are not going to get made. 1999s-2004s are where it's at for me. I think they're a great combination of current styling (well, at the time anyway) and heritage cues. Taillights, fake-scoop-o-rama and the door styling all evoke Mustangs of old, but without being overly and obviously retro. Also has a certain (to me anyway) muscle-car, "gimme your lunch money!" look to it that I enjoy. ... Read More...

The V6 for 2006 now has an optional Pony Package. Vista Blue replaces Sonic Blue. Tungsten replaces Mineral Grey (this was the color of the mustang, Shelby Cobra concept and Ford GT at the 2004 Detroit Auto Show). 18" wheels available for the GT. Read More...

Hey, Graphicguy, if you're out there, got a good one for you. As you know, I've waited for my 05 GT since last Nov. 2004.....still no luck. As of this week, my dealer put an order in for me for a 2006. Hi ya'all.....here it is, June 4th, NO MUSTANG GT. Ordered November 2004. Last call to Ford Direct - "the computer is still waiting to pick my number"....this is really bull. I did talk to my dealer also, he's waiting to get the ordering info on the 2006 model. Didn't they already mark 2 production increases since intro? Ford's web site cites increases in production of 80,000 cars over 2004 numbers. I wonder how much the Mustang's popularity has exceeded Ford exec's expectations? Adding production is a lot more complicated than just adding another shift at the factory.
