Ford Mustang (2005 & newer) Problems and Solutions
Re: Not a smooth shifter [cobragt]
Consumer Reports: Mustang 2004 reliability looks excellent. MSN Auto: Reliability excellent. JD Powers mechanical looks like an excellent rating as well. The 2005 is rated lower on JD Powers for mechanical than the 2004. The 2005 and 2006 overall is a pretty good rating. And I would imagine compared to other Ford and GM cars of the past is pretty darn good for ... Read More...
Ford Mustang (2005) vs. 2005 Pontiac GTO
Re: GTO ... yuck! [pony_pirate]
Don't forget, people were paying MSRP and over to get the first 2004 GTO's too, which was crazy. Some were marked up $5k+ over MSRP. People were also "tickled pink" buying Honda Odyssey's in 2003, paying MSRP+ and waiting as long as 6 months for it. Personally I have never and will never pay MSRP for a car or wait for it, IMHO. Also ford didn't know that the V8 model would ... Read More...

Re: 2005 Mustang Problems [5twenty]
I bought my GT Dec 9,2004 in Paris, Tex. From the get go I noticed the fuel shut off problems, then the poping coming from the right front tire area. The dealership has pretty well blown me off on both problems. The local dealership fixed the poping problems by replacing the strut bushings. At least that what they told me and the problem seems to be fixed. They have ... Read More...

Re: Used GT's Are as Rare as Hen's Teeth, Just Like the New Ones [graphicgu
I see the same false conclusion to why buyers can't locate the manual GT version Mustangs. it is not that there is a high demand for this model, it is because there are so few being produced with the options wanted. There are many Mustangs in the dealership lots here in the metro DC area because they are either V6 automatics or models that the few thousand on the present ... Read More...
Ford Mustang (2005) vs. 2005 Pontiac GTO
Re: Is there really such a thing as a GT w/ no options? [tayl0rd]
The Ford website shows $1,770 for the shaker. The Mustang trunk is bigger because of the gas tank relocation on the GTO for US safety stds. Previous Mustang, 2004 the gas tank is right at the bumper. The GTO is the larger roomier car overall then the Mustang. Compact vs Subcompact by EPA ratings. GTO 95 cu ft interior, Mustang 83 cu ft interior. Read More...
Re: It's in the gearing [tayl0rd]
Just to name a few Performance V6 engines of 2004 that made the same 260hp or more then the V8 Mustang GT..... G35 with 260 - 280hp on 3.5L V6 350Z 280hp on 3.5L V6 Maxima 265hp on 3.5L V6 Grand Prix GTP 260hp on 3.8L V6 BTW Ford GT is twice the price of the Z06, I should hope it makes 95 more hp for $70k more :P Read More...
Re: It's in the gearing [tayl0rd]
A 2004 Mustang GT had a performance 4.6L V8 only making 260hp. That is pretty embarassing for a V8. Most performance V6 engines of 2004 made that much power or more. In fact the base 4.6L in the Crown Vic only makes a paltry 224 hp? The only way Ford can make any real power out of their V8's is to supercharge them. Before we hear the old comeback of, "Well GM has to use more ... Read More...

Re: Retro's are no goes! [socala4]
Interestingly, the Mustang has faced this dilemma before, and its history provides examples of both when it worked and when it didn't. Consider the leap from the retro design of the Mustang II (an attempt to get back to the proportions and style of the orignal 1964 1/2 car) to the Euro-futurism of the Fox body. Now that was a bold change...and it worked well. But ... Read More...

Re: Do I have a chance? [vistablues]
hey vistablues...I'll give you a good story, I too ordered at 2005 GT Premium, in Nov. 2004...from a small WI dealer...by June of 2005, still no Mustang, was told Ford could not produce 13,000 orders. Scrapped my order! Went back to same dealer end of June 2005, reordered a 2006. Was informed at that time that the dealer had a small allotment, wish I'd known that ... Read More...
Ford Mustang (2005 & newer) Problems and Solutions
a point of refrence...
tayl0rd, I have owned 3 mustangs to date, and let me tell you... the new 05 body style is just a touring car. no longer a sports car. The three mustangs i have owned: 1) 1996 cobra 2) 2004 mach1 3) 2005 GT of these cars, these are my thoughts... the cobras are faster not to mention handle better than the mach1's, but ONLY if you put serious money into them, im not talking ...
