2004 Ford Mustang Coupe GT Premium 2dr Coupe (4.6L 8cyl 5M)

Review

I have been wanting a Mustang since 1986. Finally I could afford one. The acceleration and handling are okay. The styling and and sound of the exhaust are awesome, but...the car has been back to the dealer 4 times in three months with engine problems. All is supposedly fixed, but no so. Unfortunately, this was a case of of fantasy being much better than reality. Back to a Honda I guess.

Best Features

Sound system, sound of exhaust

Worst Features

Stronger engine, get rid of A/C compressor noises, engine ticking under acceleration of any kind, wind noise in cabin at highway speeds, transmission noises.

Review

My wife wanted this pretty red Mustang. We needed a car that gets good gas mileage, and after seeing on the "sticker" that the V-6 was estimated to get 19 city/26 highway, we felt as though this was a good purchase for us. Well, it gets 11 mpg in town. The dealer did troubleshooting on the car, and informed me that it was getting 15 mpg in town, and 25 on the highway. So, the Ford Factory Rep suggested that he fill the tank, drive it for 20 miles or so, then refill the tank and determine the mileage. He got almost 12 miles to the gallon! Thus far, Ford Motor Company refuses to do anything else.

Looks

Worst Features

Have Toyota or Honda build the drivetrain!

2004 Ford Mustang Coupe 2dr Coupe (3.8L 6cyl 5M)

Review

I bought a brand new 04 V6 5 speed Mustang as an alternative to a used car because the price was right. It is a very sharp car. Discounts and a new body style on the horizon made this a favorable deal. Wife thinks it's fun to drive too - so much so that she offered me her Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. in exchange. The novelty of the manula transmission only lasted a week or two and she wanted the Jeep back. for the money - the Mustang is a car you can be proud of as opposed to just another econobox. I think it will resale easier too.

Best Features

Timeless good looks- I know this is subjective but I really like the looks of this car and it's torch red paint. Also: Good handling. V6 power and fuel economy are good. A/C cools car very well.

Worst Features

Larger wheels / wider tires, better material for seat upholstery. standard traction lock differential, Slightly lower ratio rear end gears. Ford should also finish the dual exhaust on this car- it is dual up to the rear muffler and then becomes a single. It could use some exhaust sound

2004 Ford Mustang Coupe 2dr Coupe (3.8L 6cyl 5M)

Review

I was the proud owner of the first '65 Fastback Mustang in San Bernardino county in 1965. Said car was then modified for SCCA track racing. This 2003 Mustang coupe was purchased as a last vehicle type thing (70 years old) just for fun and nostalgia. It's a fun drive, fairly economical and we can get six suitcases/handbags in the truck. It's not going to win any races for me but it is responsive and comfortable.

Worst Features

Door paneling needs to have tighter tolerances and suspension could use a little work. 15" wheels are a much better configuration for the street.
