Traded in my '02 Lightning for '04
Cobra convertible. Many reasons, but
last of the Dearborn Mustangs, IRS,
massive HP, SVT break. Not
disappointed. Did add Magnaflow cat
backs, looking for Steve McQueen
Bullitt Mustang sound. Close. Also,
improves breathing to redline.
Overall, lots of fun. Neighbors
jealous. Hair not falling out as
I am anxiously awaiting the next round
of offerings from the SVT group. GT is
slightly out of budget, but love the
prototype Lightning and look forward to
seeing the magic they work on the new
Mustang. Wish SVT had done the
Marauder. Lots of potential wasted

I am selling my 2001 GT and am now
into a sweeeet Mystichrome packaged 04
Cobra Convt. This baby isn't just
another pretty face either. (The
paint does turn heads everywhere I
go!) The SVT team did a wonderful job
of improving performance, handling and
reliability. The upgraded engine and
suspension are truly magnificient!
The 03s heads problem did not reappear
in the 04. The rwhp seems improved
from the 03 as well. Friends of mine
with the 03 Cobra dynoed out @ 360-367
rwhp stock. The two 04s I have seen
dynoed, including mine, were 375 & 377
rwhp stock. Needless to say, some
mild mods are in the near future.
Easy to mod, great acceleration, 6
gears, much improved handling, the
blower whinin', 6 CD stereo playin' my
favorite tunes and pure topless fun as
the Mystichrome turns heads!!

These cars are great. In the past,
Camaro and Firebird have litterally
embarassed Mustang. But now, in 2003,
Ford made a comeback, even though their
Mustang found itself without any
competition. I will petty any Camaro SS
driver or "Firechicken" driver when
they mistake this car for one of the
Then, now in 2004, the Mustang finds
itself head to head with an old rival,
the legendary Pontiac GTO. The Cobra
still wins of course... but what will
happen when Dodge comes out with the
Charger... yes, they are comming out
with their dead Charger once again...
who will win, I guess we'll just have
to wait and see.
My favorite features are the 0-60 in
4.5 seconds, and the under-ratings; ex.
390bhp @ 6000rpm, its really about 420-
425 bhp @ 6000rpm.
I think it needs the rear deck spoiler
wing that the Cobra R has. Without it,
they are limited to 155 mph, but, take
away the limited, and 180mph would not
be out of the question. Infact, it
would soar above 170 mph.
