hello there, i own a 2001 ford mustang v6 automatic. i have a problem when driving, and the gear 2 shifts to gear 3, it only shifts at 2200 rpm, which makes the car slow when going up. why is the gear 2 shifting so quickly, it should be on 3000 or 3 500 rpm...??
my 2001 is doing the same thing took it to ford dealership and they said its my fuel pump sensor, drove it sixty miles and it started doing that again and now its so bad that it completly shuts off i have to let it sit and then it gives me another thirty miles before doing it again. can anyone please shine a light to my problem??
Hello I HAVE A 2001 FORD MUSTANG AND I NEED TO ASK HOW MUCH A BANK HEAD GASKET FOR CYLINDER 3 WOULD RANGE FROM LIKE THE CHEAPEST OR MOST ECPENSIVE? ITS A V6 3.8
I have a knocking noise that can be heard easily at an idle. I took it in to the Ford dealer and they said it was coming from the heads (44,000 miles). They did all of the head work completely ($5000 on their bill:) and it still has the same noise. They ran all tests and said they could not figure out what is causing the noise but bring it back ... The check engine light came on my 2001 mustang with the v6. The code is showing the intake air temperature sensor is indicating a high temperature. I have looked for the sensor on the air intake, but cannot find one. I have looked in the chilton repair manuals and it shows the sensor on the intake between the filter and the manifold. The parts guy at Autozone came out and he ... Read More
I never understood the tan striping...a very odd choice at the time, given how Ford was really ramping up the retro at that point. Red stripes would have been a good-looking choice for white Mustangs only... I actually put those rocker panel stripes on my '02...white for me, as my car is dark blue. What do the wheels look like on the '00? Are they kinda a shiny, machined chrome, in ... Read More
I need your worthy advice. I want to buy an entry level Mustang in the pre-2005 body style and have two cars I'm considering. They are identical white/tan V6 Auto's and are both at $7k. Here are the differences: 2000 with 66k miles. Nicer interior and exterior. I like the black body decals and the wheels better. No keyless enty fob. Available from a Ford dealer who's reputation is very marginal. ... Read More
BLA BLA, you need a super charger to get that power, from that GT, in fact so does the cobra and saleen, the ls1 & ls2 engines just needs some TLC and will blow the doors off any Mustang, saleen, cobra. in some cases without The Mods.if imagine if the C5 or C6 was supercharged!! my god. its just fact, i own a 2001 zo6 and never been taken by any Mustang old ... FYI - Ford and SVT produced less than 27k Mustang Cobras in the 4 model years 2001 thru 2004 (thats less than 6700 units per year). So I guess these cars were also "Limited Production". The fact is, these cars are demanding MSRP+ADM because of the Shelby name. Nothing more. Nothing less. And the folks who are actually PAYING $15-25k over MSRP now are doing it JUST to be the first ... Read More
I have owned my 2005 Mustang GT for 11 months, and evertime I drive it I have a smile, this is the best car ford ever built. I concidered several cars before I purchased the mustang. 1-and older vette 2-Pontiac GTO 3-Dodge charger. the Mustang GT won. I recently had a Saleen Superchager installed for 6500.00. This brings my mustang to 475 RWHP at over 500 RWTQ. I paid 26,700 for ... Read More
I was at the Ford dealer today getting my Mustang serviced ( I own a beautiful 2001 GT) and I asked the salesman about all the problems that the new 05 and 06 Mustangs have. He told me that he wasn't aware of them having any problems. He never knew that they had fuel and gas tank problems. But he did tell me that Ford is NOT giving any rebates on ... Read More
I am surprised that the 05 & 06 Mustangs all have vibrations. I own a 2001 Mustang GT and a 2002 V6 Mustang and I never had any vibration problems. Ford needs to get the bugs out of the new Mustang. It's been over 2 years now since the new 05 body style came out and Ford STILL hasn't worked out the bugs on these cars. I would never buy a ... Read More
hello, I have a used 2001 ford mustang convertible (not the gt) I bought it used and have put about 10k miles on it. Right now my car is around 66k, right between 60 and 70k. I don't know a lot about the vehicle history but I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I was wondering if anyone out there could give me advice as to what maintenance/problems I am going to ... I have a 2001 V-6 that is starting to idle at 2,200 rpms. It will go down to a more nomal rpm after some time and then idle fast again. I took to a very good mechanic and he said that he did not know what to do to fix it. He recommended that we take it to a Ford dealership for repair.
The new 2005 & 2006 Mustang V6's and GT's have many problems. The biggest problem being the gas tank issue, the shifting problems and the front end noises and rattles. I own a 2001 Mustang GT and a 2002 V6 Mustang and I don't have these problems that the new 2005 and 2006 Mustangs have. I am glad that I don't own a 2005 or a 2006 Mustang. I love the ... Read More
I own a 2001 V8 Mustang and I have been in love since the day I bought it. Lately I have been itching to buy her a companion and the 05-06 models are awesome. I own a '01 Bullitt Mustang. It may be that Ford has "plans" for a future Bullitt special using the new body style and I think it would be sharp; BUT, there are serious problems to creating a new Bullitt - Ford "promised" they would only do it one time and that promise included the McQueen Estate who are definitely involved; plus there are royalties involved to both Warner Bros. and ... "The GTO defiitely has an understated, "sleeper" style. The problem is unlike a BMW M3 or 330, it doesn't have the name or impressive history for quality and performance (nor the large pricetag!)" The GTO marque definitely has THE NAME and a impressive history for performance. This 2005 is the fastest/most powerfull stock one ever made. As for quality, the last GTO was 1974. "The GTO just looks too much like ... Read More
In 2001 I almost bought a fully loaded Mustang GT but for less than two grand more I got a very loaded BWW Z3 so that is my "fun" car. My other/practical car is a Nissan 240SX 1993 which I LOVE. Dark Highland Green was used exclusively by Ford on the 2001 Mustang "Bullitt" Special Edition. Ford has used DHG on trucks, but never yet on another car. I also have that stripepainter on my computer, and I've seen the DHG color in there. Neither the Ford site for Canada or the US lists DHG as a current color. To my knowledge it is not available from Ford at this time. As ... Read More
I bought a red 2000 V6 Mustang convertible with 42,000 miles for $11,000 after having spent a miserable month in a 2006 Toyota Solara SLE convertible with all options. It exhibited a lot of convertible flex (body shudder) at low speeds on less than perfect roads and also felt like it had iron shocks. Visibility out the back was terrible, too. I was a victim of the automotive press which praised ... Read More
But isn't that what Ford is about. Mass producing cheap cars for the masses. LOL, and GM isn't? The 2004 Mustang we just bought was a 40th Anniversary. I actually like the dual-colored interior better than the all one color interior of her 2001. But, once again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Too bad the F Bodies bowed out in 2002. That said.... The GTO is a far superior riding car with a much better build quality and interior then the Camaro ever had. GTO is way more luxury then Camaro. Not to mention the GTO actually has a usable backseat then can fit full grown adults, LOL! Try that in a Camaro, knees in the seats. This is why the GTO costs ... Read More
mschmal wrote..........What GM did with the GTO is they took a look at current Pontiacs and translated that into a 2 door coupe. Hence you have something that looks like a Pontiac Sunfire. Ford would have gotten the same look if they had styled the Mustang along the lines of the Focus or heaven forbid the Taurus. NO, the GTO already existed as the 2 door coupe Holden Monaro in Austrailia ... Read More
I purchased a 2001 Bullitt a COLLECTOR CAR as FORD sold it. I ended up paying about 4K over msrp due to the limited available so I thought. It spent the entire first summer I owned it ... Read More
17K for a 2001 GT ragtop is indeed a good deal if the miles are low...as for what to look for, nothing much to worry about with the now previous-gen Mustang at that point. As for wind/engine noise, it's not really bad on my 2002; so I imagine it must be even quieter on the new model. In my car, once you shift into 5th on the higway, the engine noise ... Read More

I got the FRPP catback installed for $60 at the local Meineke. The dealer quoted me $200 (yeah, right), a local Mustang shop wanted $140 (mostly because they told me they weld, not bolt it on) and the local Midas wouldn't even quote me a price until I brought the catback in and left the car for a day. Meineke did it in 1/2 hour. It bolts right in (a direct ... Read More
