i like the shingles over the rock salt. if the rock salt breaks open, you could be in trouble, even a warm day would be a bad thing.

I have driven my '05 the last two winters. I had the wrong tires so it was a nightmare. But like other people said if you buy winter tires and put some weight in the back (you can buy a package of shingles for $20 and put them back there. it will come out to 60lbs) you will be ok. My biggest fear was putting dents in it (which I came ... Read More

I have a 1995 mustang and i live in Northern Ontario, Canada. So it seems silly for me to have a mustang, just because of the massive amounts of snow. BUT it can be fairly easy to drive in snow. I put about 6 bags of road salt in my trunk and i got winter tires. That seemed to do the trick for me. The bags of salt have also come ... Read More

    1. Traction tires w/o studs 2. 200 lbs of fire place logs in trunk 3. Start out on ice in 2nd gear 4. Come to a stop by braking softly sooner than you think when driving on ice/snow 5. Don't let other drivers intimidate you into doing what they want you to do.

If you are going to rely on it to commute every day, I would consider either selling it or garaging it in winter months and getting a second car. I had to wait until I moved from NY to NC to get my Mustang.

We have the 2008 4.0L V6 w/17" wheels, we put Firestone Winter Force snow tires all the way around. Haven't had a good snow to really test them out yet, but that is what we did. :)

Ten years ago (1997 model year), Ford produced only 3088 Mustang Cobra SVT Convertibles. According to Edmunds Used Car Values, a fully loaded 97 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT Convertible in outstanding condition with only 5000 miles is worth all of $8,689. While the Shelby and the SVT Cobra Convertible are not perfectly analogous, the SVT was Ford's rarest, hottest car that year. Assuming you paid nothing more than the $20k "market ... Read More

HI im going to be turning sixteen soon. I was wondering if a 1997 ford mustang would be a good first car Or a 1997 chevrolet camaro as a first car. I've rode in both and to me they both have balls. I've gone about 120 in both but I've never drove one. I have a need for speed. And I know thats not good because I know ill be a ... Read More

I would say the Altima and Impala have a touch of retro to them. At least, the 2005 Impala did, not so much the '06. In its purest form, "retro" simply means a fashion reminiscent of the past. Well, as time goes by, more and more things have been tried when it comes to automative styling, and there's less and less new, original stuff to try, so eventually, I think everything ... Read More

This is the real story. .Ford did NOT start with a pretty clean sheet for 2005 Stang. They copied the 1967 styling, real original, right? Are they going to retro Stang2 or Fox body for next generation? Then Ford used or heavily borrowed from the 2000 Lincoln LS chassis as their starting point. They took their 15 yr old 4.6L V8 which they changed 60% of it and took the 5spd ... Read More

Sounds like there is a lot of reliability problems with the NEW 2005 Mustang or at least the early ones from what I saw on the Ford Mustang 2005 Problems and Solutions boards..... WAY MORE then GTO. I don't see many on GTO here on edmunds. Then again I would NEVER buy a first year car anyway new. I have done that and learned the hard way. 1995 Aurora V8 and ... Read More

It's almost like they stopped designing anything after 1997....just reworking the same thing from '97 on (and that design isn't one I'd want to emulate as a classic, by any stretch). ....... I was a GTP owner back in '97. I thought it looked good back then. Now, the design of the current GP/GTO has lost its luster....as has all of Pontiac, IMHO! As I mentioned before, if Pontiac had produced the "sketch" shown in MTs recent issue, I think the car would have been a hit. Instead, Pontiac has clearly struggled to sell it....even in reduced numbers and limited production. This isn't ... Read More

A fair point, that. On the other hand, Ford's pegged production of the new Thunderbird at 25,000 units. Even though the four-seat big personal coupe genre is pretty close to dead, the last of the four-seaters sold 79,000 in 1997. That was down a third from the year before, which was a drop from '95, and with sales similarly drying up for the Buick Riviera, Lincoln Mark VIII, and Cadillac Eldorado, ... Read More
