We were notified about a month ago & our '10 Fusion had it's studs replaced today. This recall also involves brake rotors. We had our original rotors replaced by our independent mechanic earlier because they were warped and our Ford dealer told us that Ford will reimburse us for our expense. That phone call is on my "to do" list.
I understand the dealer had my car torn apart and actually told me his guys had never done this particular job before and this was "A learning curve for them" I can't wait to see if blows up in the next couple of weeks. If I have another problem with it I will dump it
A loaner for you. That's nice of dealer to do. But, I feel that some times when his (dealer) 'technicians' touch my vehicle they can screw up something else. At least that's the way it worked at Toyota...and others. So while you are out there enjoying the 'free' loaner there is some monkey in the garage working on your own...and making it worse. It's not just Ford, it happens with all ... Read More
This is funny, the dealer offered me a complimentary rental for the weekend (Very good people at the dealership BTW) It is a Nissan!!! ROTFL
Really I know a dozen people with Ford vehicles. One guy has an explorer with 3 transmission changes all under 50K miles. My best friends wife liked my Fusion so much they bought one and just lost the transmission at 24k miles. My wife had an explorer a few years back and it front axle problems below 40k miles. Yet her Honda has 130k miles with oil and transmission fluid changes ... Read More
Yet hundreds of thousands of other owners don't have any of these problems.
I bought this Ford Fusion 6 cyl SEL because Car and driver, Consumer Reports etc all chimed in about what a great car it is. Well before 30k miles I replaced the synch module twice and all the directional lights twice. At 40k miles the alternator went for $960 and last week the water pump was leaking. Fortunately it was covered under the drive train warranty because they had to take ... Read More
The car is unchanged from its new condition, is quiet and economical (average mpg mixed=31.1) and I would enthusiastically recommend the Fusion/Milan. No problems, no repairs, no remorse. With incentives, etc. they are not an expensive car in the I-4 configuration and actually compete pricewise with many of the moderately equipped compacts. Good engineering nod to the Ford workforce.
68jode, If the 2010 Fusion's Heater Core has been recalled why haven't we received any word from Ford on replacing it? Is this something that just takes time? My tech told me that Service Bulletins only come out once a quarter. So perhaps this recall will hit the streets in early March? Yes, I have been following FordFusionForum.com daily. My dealer only wants to "burp" the air out like already has ... Read More
I have a 2009 SEL V6 and I went to the Ford Website and I thought it affected 2010 and 2011 models. Anyway, I appreciate the information and will check the website again when I get home later today. Thanks.
Heard on our local News that there will be a recall issued by Ford in the next 30 days for certain Fusions and Milans where the lug nuts can be sheared off while driving causing the wheel to fall off and that Ford will be replacing all the lug nuts. I did not catch the details such as the Vehicle Year this would effect. I did notice it showed a pre ... Read More
I was the one who started the thread in Fordfusionforum discussing the problem. I would take the car to the dealer and reference the forum comments and solutions so far that haven't worked. The most recent one today discusses the placement of the coolant supply lines to the heater core. Interestingly enough, and I verified it, you can't order a replacement core because that part has been recalled! The more people ... Read More
Friends, i'm new to this forum and wanted some guidance as to how to proceed with the lemon for the transmission on my Fusion 2010. Now my lawyer has sent me the scheduling orderfo the court proceedings and i'm ... Read More
I'm pretty sure there is a place in Ford you can contact, and the info should be in one of the manuals you got with the car, but I haven't dealt with anything like that before. You may have to have repeated unsatisfactory dealer visits before they would step in ... Read More
xmech, Yes, that fordfusionforum sums it up nicely. That is the exact problem I am having. Is there a way to contact Ford to let them know we are having this issue? Or is bringing it to the dealer for service good enough?
The Camry only gets 2 mpg more than the Fusion - I wouldn't call that "substantially less". However, the 2010-2011 Camry did get "substantially less" MPG than the 2010-2011 FFH (5+). The Fusion has a 2 year head start. The 2013 Fusion will leapfrog the Camry next year and Ford will be ahead again. And the C-Max should also give the Prius a run for its money on the smaller lower ... Read More
"They tested the pressure as well and said it was fine. " What pressure? I've seen similar issue on another forum, and they suspect air in the coolant system, and you're hearing it gurgle in the heater core. Forgot if a flush helped, search some other Ford Fusion forums and I think you'll find it. I'll post back if I see it again and have the time.
My new Fusion is making a gurgling noise when I press down on the accelerator. This always happens when the car is just started (cold), but occaisonally happens under normal conditions. I took it to a dealer and of course the car was warmed up and they could find nothing wrong. They tested the pressure as well and said it was fine. I guess my next option would be to leave ... The interiors in the Fusion are a far cry above those in the Camry which sell for the same price range. I had a 2009 Camry, I now have a 2010 Fusion Sport. The Ford is far better in workmanship, material quality and comfort compared to the Camry, and they cost just about the same price.
Last summer I rented Fusion for a week while vacationing in virginia. Overall I liked the car; it was I believe se 4 cyl automatic. It felt solid, handled well. The Fusion is selling very well for Ford, so why should they discount them?
Fusion is a very good choice, in fact since Ford is dropping the Mercury brand, there will soon be some good deals on the Milan. I have a 2010 Sport, fast, quiet, comfortable, smooth ride, Sync, good MPG even with the high HP motor. Compared to the 2009 Camry I had, its worlds better.
I've driven the 2010 Accord a lot and it's a very nice car, at least the EX model. I think all the mid-sized in this segment are very good cars so it's a matter of personal preference. The refuel warning seems to come on at a little over 15 gallons fuel used. Since the tank capacity is 17.3 it would appear that Ford has built in a very generous buffer supply at about 2 gallons. Ford definitely put a little more effort into the Fiesta, no doubt. The Mazda2 we see is virtually the same as it has been for the past couple years, outside of a few different styling cues. The 3.0L has been around for a long time and the 3.5 is going into lots of other products. I think it was kept around until the smaller ecoboost engines arrive (like the new 2.0L which produces similar power with better fuel economy).

The battery is connected when delivered from the factory, but is disconnected and hopefully reconnected prior to delivery. My fusion is an 07 SEL AWD model. Thank you, explorerx4, I did not know that the cars come to the dealership with disconnected battery. If you have a Fusion, what is your opinion of the car?
i have bought quite few new cars. the battery is usually disconnected and reconnected during the new vehicle preparation process.
Why "the loose battery connection is a dealer issue"? The battery is installed at the factory, isn't it?
sounds like seat comfort was not a factor in buying the vehicle. could have been the same thing with any other brand, depending on their priorities. the transmission issue is not a recall. recalls are safety related. the TSB is a customer satisfaction issue.
the loose battery connection is a dealer issue. trust me, i had the same thing happen to me.
It is sad but it was an easy fix. More worrisome was a transmission recall and a loose battery terminal for the car fresh from the factory.
Pretty sad that you had to run out and buy a cushion for your new car seats!
I have 2010 Fusion SE V6. I bought a tapered cushion for the seat and it works. I do not have any problem with the transmission. I do not like electrical assist steering. Otherwise the car is great for the price.
Check with the dealer - there is a TSB for the transmission. You don't need a handle for the driver - you should have both hands on the wheel.
After test driving everything in it's class such as the Honda, the Camry.......I chose the 2010 fusion SEL. It was by far the quietest and best driving of them all. To my disappointment, Ford did not increase cash rebate incentives on the Fusion in July. I thought they might, since 2011's will be here in less than a month and the Fusion has had the same $2k rebate all year. Current incentives state they are valid until October 4th, is Ford really not going to discount the 2010 models any more than they have all year?
Engine braking is a preferred technique if you go downhill. If you ever drove car with manual transmission you will understand me. So kudos to Ford for implementing this feature. The last thing you want is to use brakes during long decent. It will overheat brakes and create a dangerous situation.
Yea, 6% tax and $202 for tags and title. I'm not sure what number they figured the tax on, but I ended up paying $26,500 for the car, got the $1500 returning owner rebate, and got KBB value for my trade. The dealer was Koons Ford/Nissan of Falls Church VA. I dealt with Mike Bancroft. Really stand up guy, and a super easy buying experience.
We rented a Fusion SEL for a road trip from Indianapolis, Indiana to the Missouri Ozarks. It was a 4 cylinder with a 6-speed automatic.
