I have a 2009 SEL V6 and I went to the Ford Website and I thought it affected 2010 and 2011 models. Anyway, I appreciate the information and will check the website again when I get home later today. Thanks.
I might have some insight into this, I own the 2009 mazda6 2.5 and also drove a rental ford fusion with the same engine. I noticed the fusion runs at lower rpm cruising speed, so the culprit might be the transmission/engine tuning. I prefer the how the fusion is tuned. wonder if there is a way to reprogram the mazda to match maybe by taking it to a ford dealer?
I don't know what you owe, but at the 4 dealerships I shopped for my Focus, I was offered between $16000 and $16500 and I ended up settling for $16250 at a dealership that originally offered $16000. That's less than the $17000 I originally wanted in trade. No one would come close to that because of "market fluctuations". I need my Fusion until my ordered Focus arrives and the timing needs ... It needs a major redesign as the current model is awful. I had a 2009, and it was not a very good car. Sure it was reliable, but material wise, very cheap, it was also noisy and handled like one of those old cars you see in movies now that float all over the place on shockless springs. The Fusion is a much better built car and has higher quality material ... Read More

That's how I felt about the 2009 Camry Hybrid I had. After the first week I was very disappointed in what it had, and just could not figure out what made the car so highly rated. The interiors in the Fusion are a far cry above those in the Camry which sell for the same price range. I had a 2009 Camry, I now have a 2010 Fusion Sport. The Ford is far better in workmanship, material quality and comfort compared to the Camry, and they cost just about the same price.
Fusion is a very good choice, in fact since Ford is dropping the Mercury brand, there will soon be some good deals on the Milan. I have a 2010 Sport, fast, quiet, comfortable, smooth ride, Sync, good MPG even with the high HP motor. Compared to the 2009 Camry I had, its worlds better.
RE: new vs. used... Agreed. If purchased smartly, and are able to keep right side up in the loan, you can do very well buying a new car. I have done that now for 3 years. I bought a 2007 Prius in April 2007, paid MSRP on it, which at the time WAS a good deal, got 2.9% financing, drove it for 10 months, didn't like it, didn't feel safe in ... Read More
I'm choosing between a 2010 Fusion, 2010 Accord, or a used Fusion/Accord. I am having a REAL hard time figuring out why I wouldn't choose the Fusion in either case here. this news about the new 2011 Kia K5 (Optima's name in SK) outselling Sonata is groundbreaking and really quite refreshing. It is more success coming from new Design Chief Peter Schreyer of Kia (formerly the Design Chief of Audi Motors). You'll see Audi cues on new Kia's, but mostly on the new Kia SUV's. The new 2011 Kia Optima will face very stiff competition, but backy is right, all the hullabulloo ... Read More

Hi guys, I have to replace my commuting car in July this year and I have a short list of contenders after researching and test driving a few of those. My list: 2010 Honda Civic LX, 2010 Ford Fusion EX, 2010 Chevy Malibu, 2010 (yes, the older model) Sonata. I have owned a 2009 Camry Hybrid, I now own a 2010 Fusion Sport. The Ford is much quieter overall than the Camry could possibly be. well first off, I disagree completely with you about the altima, as you probably would have known from my ranks ;) the reason being is this, Nissan is not a overrated company, if anything in the last 10 year Nissan and Hyundai have made the most amount of progress in regards to increasing sales, gaining market share despite never being #1 specifically in any one single category, improving reliability and quality ... The new 2010 Fusion has what Ford calls, "one touch" start. If you turn the key to the start position and let go, the starter continues to turn. On 2010 Fusion's built before August 2009, there is a problem with the starting process. On ... Read More

Wow. One of the major car magazines named the Fusion CAT OF THE YEAR for 2009. Way to go, Ford.
Here is where you may THINK you are bursting a bubble, but you are not. Just because the Camry and Accord are "built" in a US plant, doesn't mean the money Toyota makes on the sale of the car stays here, on the contrary, the money goes directly to Japan, whereas a Domestic car, whether it is built in the US, Canada, Mexico, or even Australia, the money on each sale ... Hello there! New member today! I contacted a Western Mass Ford dealer with whom I have had great past relationships. I'm planning on signing the deal on the 2009 Fusion SEL on Monday after work. The final out the door will be $22,877 for the car that had a MSRP of 26,715. For a moment this morning I thought I might even be getting a $4000 rebate because the Salesman called and told me the rebate was $3000 plus an additional $1000 with Financing though Ford. I checked online on Ford's ... Read More
3.0L Ford design + built, and Mazda contributed VV-T. Identical in both 03-08 Mazda6 and Fusion 2.3L Mazda design, both Ford and Mazda built. Again, identical in 03-08 Mazda6 and Fusion Basic platforms are the same too. Every other component is different. They do not share transmissions either. 2009 Mazda6: 2.5L Mazda fully developed and built. 3.7L block is Ford design, totally built by Mazda with different internals and different computer ... I have begun looking at cars again after considering buying one back in July. The deals are really good right now. I have narrowed down to the 2009 Fusion SEL V6 or the 2009 Hyundai Sonata Limited V6. I went to the ford dealership and drove the Fusion down the road about a mile to the Hyundai Dealership to do a side by side comparison. Sonata is better looking on the ... Read More
I'm thinking of buying my 16 y/o son a 2009 Ford Fusion, primarily because it seems to be the least expensive mid-size sedan to receive a top safety rating from IIHS, with the optional ESC. I don't see a lot of posts on the Fusion, anyone have an opinion? I'd rather not buy him a brand new car, but the ESC seems to be an important accident avoidance feature, based on ... Read More
Five or ten years ago that would've been easy (Honda, Toyota, then a long steep dropoff). Now it's not--cars like the Fusion and Sonata are much better than their precursors of a few years ago. I haven't driven the latest versions of some of these cars, but there seems to be a consensus with regard to the following points: 1. Honda and Toyota no longer have a monopoly on good build ... So, after all your messages, let's see what Ford is bringing to the table in a few months... the 2010 MY should arrive by Feb. 2009. I wonder why there is no discussion board about this upcoming upgrade... New engines, better NVH, better interior... let's wait and see.
I'm very curious about which engines will be offered on the 2010 Ford Fusion (and Mercury Milan if it's still around). The current 2.3L I-4 will be replaced by the same 2.5L being introduced in the 2009 Mazda6. But what about the V6? It seems unlikely that the V6 from the Mazda6 will also make it to the Fusion. Currently, the only Ford using that 3.7L V6 is the Lincoln MKS. ... Read More
no i have not but they are advertising the same cars, yes i would appreciate advise also i noticed there are no incentives on the new 2009 fusion but i would rather get a good deal on a 2008 since it does not appear that the style has changed and there seems to be good reviews on them. again thanks i would like advise on how to get a decent deal ... There are emotions at play here. I kind of like the Fusion's interior and exterior slightly better. I felt the engine power was about equal. It had the upgraded stereo which I felt sounded better, the leather felt like it was a bit better quality, and I like the Sync feature. Like you said it should be a no brainer if it has a better warranty and a more secure vehicle ... Read More
Is ESC standard on every Fusion and Milan? That is news to me. This is 2008. Actually 2009 in terms of model years. Look to the right. Four of those cars have ESC standard on every trim line. On 3 others, it's either a readily available option (and was in 2008 or before) or standard, depending on trim line. The slackers? Ford and Nissan. How many Fusions and Milans have AWD? ... Read More
I think Ford's larger-car lineup is having its lunch eaten right now by Chevy. But all the cars you mention are essentially 20 mpg cars in town (except Ford Fusion 4-cylinder, and guess which one of these is the only one to show sales increases this year? Yeah, the 4-cyl Fusion), not good at all with the current gas prices. And the market for large cars is in severe decline now ... Read More
have not had much luck with finding a dealer that is taking internet inquiries serious i want a fusion with just automatic the last guy i talked with claims there is not a car with just that to be had withing 500 miles of denver our local paper is advertising for as low as 14419,for a basic however having them seems to be a different story, any idee how i can ... I'd have to agree. When I went to the New York Auto show in April, I sat in a couple of Malibus. IMHO, the interior was certainly good looking, but I felt that the two tone color scheme didn't work. The psuedo aluminum one however, was great. Obviously this 2010 Fusion is one equipped with the nav. I'm curious to see one without it. I remember reading an article about the ... Read More
Traction control is typically included with Advance Trac but can't say for sure. Check the Ford website when it shows up.

My crystal ball is pointing to the use of a 3.0L with new heads, intake and exhaust plus VVT that is in the new 2009 Escape being offered in the Fusion. This engine should be rated in the 240 hp. Ford launched a new mid-range 6 speed trans for the 09 Escape and at launch they said this trans will be offered in one other product next year. The only logical ... Read More
The 2009 Fusion goes on sale in June with minimal changes. The 2010 model rolls off the line in December, on sale in January 2009. It should be revealed at the LA auto show later this year. Ford is really keeping this one close to the vest - there are no un-camo'd spy shots as of yet. But someone saw one and said it looks like a totally different car. It ... Read More
I subscribe to C@D (Car @ Driver) magazine and the Apr 08 issue had a test of mainstream I-4 cylinder family sedans. As a part of the specification sheet is a "noise level" section recorded in db at idle at full throttle acceleration and at 70 mph cruise. Oddly enough the actual measured sound levels (in db) between a 2008 Honda Accord EX (190hp 2.4 liter I-4) and a 2008 Ford ... Read More
We rented a 2007 Mercury Milan Premier edition this past week end. While I stayed home and worked Saturday my wife drove it on our weekly cross state visit to both her parents and my mother. She reported upon her return Sunday that she liked it and while this is hardly descriptive I had a chance to drive it around a bit on Friday before she left. It was an I-4 ... Read More
that it actually is a capacity issue with the 3.5 right now. The 3.5 is going more into the higher level Ford vehicles. Also read the new 3.0 will have about 240HP, the new 2.5 4cyl will have about 180HP and an "optional" 3.5 will have about 270 HP. All this is supposed to take place in 2009-10 model redo. Myself, I do enjoy my 06 Fusion SEL V6. However, my ... Read More
