    The lunging is not a transmission problem, but more likely dirty throttle body plate. I actually had mine replaced, because ti was an electrical problem The Government's investigation of the problem came up withthe same findings, and their books are closed. There were no recalls.     They are Volvo throw away tranny's, Ford has know about the problem and they say there is a pump in them that you can rebuild which works most of the time but they knew the tranny's were on the low end when they obtained them that is why each year they made the warranty longer

    Mine is also messing up and I believe the tranny is the problem. Your story sounds like mine.. Ill check with the service dept tomorrow to get more information. I am considering arbitration as well.

    I have a 2007 Ford Freestyle that is currently in the shop. I am being told that it needs a new transmission even though it was drivable when dropped of at the dealer. They are say its $5,800.00 fix. Unbelievable. I would welcome a class action suit.

    I just filed a complaint today with the NHTSA. I wasn't able to find the investigation that was mentioned. I'm having the throttle issues and water puddles in my car. I don't have a sun or moon roof.

    I had those same symptoms with our 2007 FS at about 75,000 miles. Turned out to be a bad throttle body... Open and check the air filter housing for any deris... Luckily, the EasyCare covered the repair. Wish it were so for the tranny that just started to fail at 102K... Just 2000 past the end of the term, and only 9K after the dealer did the CVT service (supposedly!)...

    yes ma'am! i got the same response. and the sad part is my ESP was a ford warranty. i have fixed the car, and will continue to do so. but in the mean time i found an attorney that specializes in the lemon law and breach of warranty. i mean it can't hurt to try and get some of my money back!

    If your last 4 Fords had zero problems, then your Freestyle is averaging things out for your. Think about it like on average you've had one problem per car, which isn't too bad. Doesn't help now, but a different way to look at it.

It seems like there is a lot of potential to get a mechanic (even at a Ford dealer) who isn't specifically trained on the CVT and might do something wrong that would end up costing me money in the end.

    I agree that trans problems are horrible. However, it is true that the percentage of trans failures in Freestyles is lower than average across all 2005-2007 makes/models for comparison. The only way a class action lawsuit can succeed is if the failure percentage is high enough and Ford had a design flaw. I don't think thats the case here.
