2006 Ford Freestyle Limited 4dr Wagon (3.0L 6cyl CVT)
Like all domestics, one should be able to get a great deal. Pleasantly paid just a few hundred over invoice. Dealer experience was very positive. Honestly, settled on the car out of necessity and lack of offerings from other car companies. Only vehicle with 3 rows of seating, car like gas mileage, decent trunk space, price $30K or less. There should be more choices in the future due to high gas prices; meantime, this is probably one of few choices.
Nifty CVT, like driving a golf cart. Dual zone A/C, seat heaters, backup sensor, great stereo, programmable driver settings, 6 in dash CD charger. Ergonomic-like theater seating, durable leather, fold flat seats, east of exit/entry. Ride is almost European, firm but compliant. Good brakes.
Biggest is the raspy engine (rental car like) note during acceleration, which is common problem for all domestic 6 cylinder engines. Engine should be refined, by taking cues from Toyota as they make 4 cylinders that sound better and quieter. Some minor plastic trim fitment concerns.
