Ford Freestyle Rear Brakes

Re: 05 ford freestyle brakes [schmeal]

I replaced the rear brakes at about 35,000 miels (and recently my front brakes) on my '05 Freestyle FWD with 75,000 miles. I bought aftermarket ceramic pads (about $50 for front and rear) and had a local shop put them in for $100. I was reimbursed by Ford for the cost of replacing the rear brakes. I kept on the original rotors. So far, I haven't had any big problems with ... Read More...

Should be a recall but don't count on it

I am tired of reading about how Ford continues to ignore this issue. There is no recall just a TSB. Brakes wearing out at 15K to 20K miles is NOT "normal". My expert mechanic (X-Ford and certified) looked at my 2005 Freestyle "premature" brake wear. The problem is clearly a design flaw. Also, being the same platform and sharing brake parts, the 500 has the same problem ... Read More...

Freestyle Transmission Failure

Re: Ford Freestyle Transmission [jsal2]

I too have a Freestyle 2005 Limited AWD. It has been in the shop for the tranny twice this year, the Throttle body control and I have put brakes a ll the way around. The AWD Malfunction came on in January and i had it fixed, cost of $1400, it worked until about mid September, the malfunction came on again, another $1400 and it still not working, so now they want another ... Ford Freestyle CVT Transmissions

Re: Ford Freestyle CVT Transmissions [steve_]

i have a 2005 awd freestyle. I had the transmission fluid changed at 106,000 miles. Turns out the shop that did it used mercron 5 fluid not the "special fluid" that the dealer now tells me they should have used. now my transmission is slipping and i am being told i need a new transmission. The shop that did the flush says the fluid they used is correct. The dealer says ... Read More...

Ford Freestyle Lots of problems

Throttle Body TSB Tech Service Bulletin old Re: Lots of problems [ekraft90]

Ford has known its had major throttle body issues on the Freestyle/500/Montego, and maybe others, for a long time now. They issued a TSB (tech service bulletin) early in the Freestyle manufacturing run. A TSB means that Ford has seen too many failures of this part and is alerting technicians to the problem: Copy of TSB: The part "5F9Z-9E926-AA Throttle Body" ... Read More...

Ford Freestyle Rear Brakes

4th Set of Brakes

I took my 2005 Freestyle (93K miles) in for maintenace service today and they said I need rear brakes/calipers again (4th time for brakes). I think I've had enough. Ford replaced the brakes once, reimbursed me once, and the third was on my own. The brakes/calipers on the rear will be $1068. Enough is enough. Read More...

All Ford Freestyle Owners

Re: All Ford Freestyle Owners [megstwin]

I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle and it has been in the shop for over 70 days now waiting for a new Throttle Body. Headquarters will not return my calls and no one can help. Yet they expect you to continue to make payments on a car they can't fix right now. I was told by an inside source that the Throttle body will not be avail for install until after the first of the year . I did ... Read More...

Ford Freestyle CVT Transmissions

Re: Need new transmission at 23k miles [sully320]

The warranty booklet for a particular model year says it all. I did hear that '07 model years got a longer powertrain warranty, if memory serves me, something Ford did to assuage fears of CVT risk from buyers. My '05 only had a 3-year one, but don't know about '06 models that mike_nyc has. Warranty booklets for model years 2005-2006-2007 Freestyles are available ... Read More...

Freestyle Transmission Failure

Ford Freestyle Transmission

I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle limited. On Saturday, the differential spider gear pin just fell out (I actually found it and pieces of my transmission cover on the ground) and my transmission literally broke up inside the car. (I guess the pin holds the transmission cover on and in place). Regardless, the car only has 42,100 miles on it and of course it is out of warranty. ... Read More...

tranny repairs

I purchased a 2005 Freestyle Limited AWD in February with 41,000 miles on it, Now at 49,000 it is in the shop for $2,600 in tranny repairs. Input shaft bearing is shot. Is this the typical problem others are having? Does anyone know if Ford is helping with these repairs if the car is out of warranty. I have been driving Fords for years (5 SHO's) and this is the 3rd Ford ... Read More...
