Re: Ford Freestyle Owners: MPG-Real World Numbers [chiefredbird]
I typically get low 20's in my 2005 Freestyle . . but, it's an AWD, and I also tend to drive very fast on the freeway. Average around 75mph, I'd say. And it's the "sometimes faster" that kills my mpg, I'm sure. ;) Read More...
Ford Freestyle What Would You Change?
Re: Freestyle-Type Vehicles Have No Future [stmss]
How much leg room do those similar crossovers' third-row seats have, and how much cargo room with the rear seat folded down? I did a side-by-side comparison in December 2005 on those two points between a dealer's demo Freestyle and my next-door neighbor's brand new Toyota Highlander, which the Freestyle won. Those were critical issues for me with three children ... Read More...
Brakes on Freestyle
Hi, I just purchased a 2006 Freestyle on 1/3/2007 with 11,000 miles on it and I had to have the dealer replace front and rear brakes as well as machine the rotors as the brakes were gone. I am concerned as every used Freestyle I looked at, both 2005 and 2006 all had the same problems, major issues with mainly the rear brakes. i have filed a complaint on the gov't website ... Re: 06 Freestyle rear bakes plus...] [brentj1]
I have a 2006 Freestyle with 21,000 miles. At the 15,000 mile service, I mentioned the TSB to the service dept at the Ford dealer. He asked me if the brakes make a squeaking sound. They don't but there is a lot of black dust on the rears. He told me the brake problem was for 2005s and they fixed the problem for 2006. I took my car in for the 20,000 mile service and they said ... Read More...
Re: 2005 with worn out brakes/rotors [blue05]
I have a 2005 and just had to replace the pads and rotors on the back at 24,000 miles. We bought the car used this past spring with 16,000 miles on it. It turns out that the previous owner already replaced the front brakes. Our dealer (Mac Easler Ford in Hendersonville, NC) didn't offer to do squat and made beleive that they were not aware of any brake problem with the ... Read More...
Rear Brakes 0% at 25,000 miles
Hello Ford Detroit, I know you are reading this. Wondering how the rear brake thing is going with your Freestyle "customers". Rears metal to metal at 25,000 miles. Front at 50%. I spent $320 at Goodyear for pads and rotors. 2005 limited AWD. Your ford dealers want $75 just to look at the thing and an estimate. Hey Ford Detroit, why dont you just sign on in here, or just ... Re: Whine from the engine area [lenwoodruff]
I have 2005 Freestyle LTD AWD. It has about 41K miles now, and it started "whining" at around 36K. Here is what I have noticed about my Freestyle's whining noise: 1) It happens at low rpm's, i.e. not only at low speeds, but when the engine is idle (parking); 2) Noticable whining starts only after the engine reaches a certain temperature. On a summer day it takes about ... Read More...

Thanks to coldcranker for the TSB. I spoke to my dealer and my freestyle was built april 1, 2005 so it is not covered by this TSB. If there is anyone else who has had rear brakes replaced and got help from Ford or thinks they deserve it, reply back. Read More...
