New Brake TSB
I'm not quite sure how to interpret the following- on AWD, does it mean only that both axles need to be changed or it isn't applicable, and for the warranty statement, what exactly does that all mean? Re: Don't Miss the Whole Point ....Re: Fuel Econonmy [coldcranker]
coldcranker, The EPA defines highway driving as a mixture of rural and Interstate highway driving with a warmed-up engine, typical of longer trips in free-flowing traffic. They allow up to 60 MPH in this routine and the average speed is 48 MPH. They define city driving as urban driving, in which a vehicle is started with the engine cold and driven in stop-and-go ... Re: Freestyle's CR '07 Buying Guide Reliability Statistics::: [preferbicycl [barnstormer64]
barnstormer, Next to worthless? And you know this how? They are people who know what their doing, many years experience. If both CR and JDPowers come to the same conclusion, then no reasonable person would throw them both out. There is a proven science to surveying and its known to be very good, and doesn't have to be exact to be good. Nothing wrong with their techniques ... Read More...
Re: rear breaks 05 AWD Freestyle [washe]
There was a TSB on the rear brakes. I believe it covers some or all of the repairs. I purchased after market ceramic pads and had the FORD dealer install them. They acknowledged FORD had a known problem and I was charged a nominal fee for the install. I had 18,000 miles on my 2005 FWD. At the time I had little pad left on the rear and the fronts looked fine. Read More...
Re: Freestyle's CR '07 Buying Guide Reliability Statistics::: [coldcranker]
The problem is that CR's black star is true for only the first year of many designed & made in America vehicles, notably including the Taurus. Even my Ford dealer told me this, and advised me against the Freestyle when it first came out. I bought a 2006 Freestyle after we couldn't delay giving our daughter a car for college, and then we gave her my wife's Taurus station ... Read More...
Re: TaurusX/Freestyle's CVT leaving us.. Why?:::: [coldcranker]
The Freestyle/500/Montego sales figures show the sad state of affairs. I personally don't understand it, since I own a Freestyle and think its smart engineering. 2006 2005 Ford500 84,218 107,932 Montego 22,332 27,007 Freestyle 58,602 76,739 Ford thought they would hit 250,000 units total (all three) per year, originally! There are probably 150,000 Freestyles ... Read More...
RE: "In other words it looks like less content in the Taurus X." [passat_2002]
I got chain-driven info from a Wikipedia. I've looked at the actual unit though. "The 2005 Ford Freestyle and Five Hundred use a new chain-driven CVT allowing engine torque to go up to 300 Nm. The transmission was designed in cooperation with the German company ZF Sachs and is currently produced in Batavia, Ohio." Wiki Link Read More...
Subaru Outback vs Ford Freestyle
Re: Freestyle [stevedebi]
I would have to agree. When I was in the market for a AWD sport wagon, I looked at both the OB and the AWD FS. I thought the FS handles great, had plenty of room and as the dealer knocked 8K off the MSRP, I went with the FS. I also opted for the extended warranty ($1000) as I thought Fords basic warranty was not adequate for a first year model vehicle (2005 AWD SEL). My only ... Read More...
Re: Taurus X [tidester]
There was an article in the local Sunday paper's business section about this topic. Allen Mullaly was instrumental in getting the name changed due to customers who liked the Taurus and didn't want it to go away. Will consumers who remember the 'old' Taurus take to the 'new' Taurus as Ford is hoping? A name change alone may not be enough - Ford had better advertise/promote ... Read More...
Ford Freestyle What Would You Change?
My improvements to Freestyle
Having owned a 2005 Limited for over a year and a half here are my comments on the subject: Things I like: 1) The overall interior packaging (how the seats fold) and general space is very good - I would not change the general layout. Changes I would do (in no particular order): 1) Option of HIDs - the current ford lights are pathetic. 2) Higher quality dash materials ... Read More...
