Shifter Trigger Release Problem
Fordwrench, and any others with knowledge, My 2005 Freestyle is having problems getting out of park. It appears to be related to the release mechanism that allows the trigger to be pulled in on gear shift knob to move shifter out of park. I have to play with pushing and releasing driving break pedal several times before trigger will pull in on shifter to move out ... Read More...
Re: I Have Seen the Light! [passat_2002]
"A simple change allright. Unless you have an '05 model. Then it becomes a good deal more complicated and the dealer will be far more likely to charge to do it." The first post I saw (on another site), was from a 2005 SE owner. He is the one that reported a $30 charge. His only complication was to convince Ford that the 2005 Freestyle had a Smart Junction Box. He had to ... Read More...
Re: Ad Car [meandbob]
Josh: Verify that $3,000 is compatible with a lease, right now the Ford website shows no lease incentives. I think you'll find out from previous posts that a 50% residual is overly optimistic for 36 months, but the MF should be attractve. Let us know how you do, some friends have a 2005 Freestyle and love it, little or no problems (nothing major anyway) Regards, ... Read More...
Re: 2005 versus 2006 Freestyles [sportman]
Build two = Job 2? Mine was built in early April '05. Zero problems, save for the tank-strap recall which was precautionary only. Ford made some modifications to Freestyle/500 builds in February 2005. I believe that's when they changed to a different rear brake pad. Read More...
Re: Considering a change... NOT [bruneau1]
I'm aware of the changes. I guess my point was what's the base or modestly equipped price going to be. If they are going to build and sell a vehicle that must be priced in the 30's to cover costs, Ford is loosing a major segment of the buying public. Will the Edge model choices go the way of the Freestyle with only the SEL and SEL Plus offered, and cost in the high 20's to ... Read More...
How Should Ford Promote the Freestyle?
Promote the Freestyle's virtues -
Greetings: If Ford is going to the trouble of restyling/renaming/updating the FS, then they should promote it's virtues. Namely it's roomy and versatile interior, outstanding safety, more powerful engine w/6-speed auto, and price advantage over similar vehicles. I would imagine (and hope) the price increase for the 2008 Taurus X would not be more than 3-4% ... Read More...

Re: Freestyle, AWD LTD + all options
:) Thanks for the dealer info. I was contacted by Keeter Ford in Shelby, NC and went over to test drive a Freestar SEL AWD. We were impressed by the car and by the dealer. I could not be happier with this agency, friendly, NO pressure, and go out of their way to make this a nice buying experience. We eventually settled on the Freestyle Limited. Also noted was the improved ... Read More...
ford rear brakes
I too have had a major problem with my rear brakes...I have a 2005 Freestyle which I purchased in February of 2006. At 28,000 miles I noticed an odd noise coming from my brakes, took it in, my rear pads were gone, it was just about metal on metal...they said this was normal wear (every mechanic, except Ford mechanics, have told me that you should have to replace your ... Re: Freestyle, AWD Limited + Nav and moonroof [rick2456]
The 2005 Limited and the 2007 limited are very different, have significantly improved the "luxury" and the list of features which go with that model. I tested each model year, and the ONLY one that caught our interest was 2007 Limited. We did not find that glare was a problem- interior was tan and time of day was 11 am - 3pm for all road tests. Has anyone had a EXCELLENT ... Read More...
Re: 2007 CR [bruneau1]
"No, just look at the detailed charts in the back for the 2005 model." I read the original 2005 report; they based their black dot on the AWD Ford 500, assuming that the Freestyle would have the same reliabilty. So far as I know they didn't use info from the FWD or actual FS numbers. There was a footnote, as I recall. Read More...
