We really liked our 2005 Freestyle when we first got it but then the problems started. At 16,000 miles the CVT (continously variable transmission)failed. The dealer replaced with a remanufactured CVT. I'm at 40,000 miles and there are problems with the CVT again. Freestyle fuel pump problem

I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle purchased new in April 2005. I'm at 39,000 miles, and the fuel pump just went. I had it towed to my regular mechanic (not a Ford dealer). He confirmed that the problem is the fuel pump which would cost $250 plus labor to replace. I read my warranty guide and know that I'm outside the 3yr/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty period. 2005 FWD FreeStyle SE 27,500 miles (12,500 on replaced transmission) 8/30 drove daughter to grad school in New York City. Supposed to be a 3 hour drive but really took 5 hours with stops to eat, and 90 minutes to cross Geo Wash Bridge - 162 miles total one way. why was the engine and CVT replaced?

As I remember, Freestayle was designed for the 3.5 engine that was not ready soon enough. Taurus X is what the Freestyle should have been. I had the 2005 SEL and the CVT died twice and other issues. 2005 Freestyle accelerates by itself!!!!!

I own an 2005 Ford FS. The car accelerates by itself at low speeds during parking maneuvrs. Its gotten so bad that i have had to push the brake all the way down so that i dont hit another car. Has anyone experienced this kind od problem. THe car spent almost a month at the dealer and its still doing the smae thing. Read More...

CVTs provides a smoother drive plus better fuel economy than a traditional automatic and stronger acceleration than a stick-shift. My son purchased a used 2005 Freestyle from a Saturn dealer. He just spent $600.00+ at Midas for front and rear brakes. When he got "the letter", he marched on down to the local Ford dealer and gave them the Midas bill and the letter. Yesterday, he got a check from Ford for the whole thing.
