Ford Freestyle Maintenance and Repair

Re: oil-life reset [tacomaguy]

The 2005 Freestyle reset oil is get percent display on, then hold button in until it resets. The oil life is simply a 5000 mile count down. Nothing fancy. I don't believe you can change the settings. Ford now has a 7500 mile oil change setting. I use Amsoil and Amsoil filter and change once a year. I have 37,000 miles. Rear brakes early on was the only major problem. ... Read More...

Re: More brake ISSUES... [jsr1]

Someone with mechanical expertise may be of help. My guess is that your Brake calipers are faulty (Ford sent me a letter that my 2005 Freestyle rear calipers may have been exposed to heat and damaged. When my mechanic said "there is a slight DRAG" on my calipers and seepage, I assume he means that the caliper is gripping the pads prematurely and causing premature ... Read More...

Ford Freestyle Rear Brakes

Re: Any hope in recovering $ with 40,311 miles and out of warrenty? [bjbundy]

Good luck... I have a 2005 for Freestyle 2WD and I took it in for the replacement brakes at 16000 miles. I just took it in to have the power steering looked at (33000 miles) and they told me the rear brakes were shot and grooving the rotors. Even though the car is under factory warranty they told me that they will not fix the problem. They said the new brakes installed ... Read More...

Any hope in recovering $ with 40,311 miles and out of warrenty?

My 2005 AWD Limited Freestyle has begun having some issues with the brakes the last couple of days. It sounds like a grinding sound. Husband says that they don't work as well. Have to push harder to stop. Was going to take it this morning to a shop that has done all of our break work on all of our cars and is reasonable and does great work. I am thinking that maybe I should ... Read More...

Re: Lots of problems [jrmust]

Please keep up with the updates....I've got a 2005 Freestyle that sounds like it's having the same problem. First time it was going up a hill at 60mph with the cruise on...next time I was in park Idling ...both times my car just shut down....1st time I had to tow it to the Ford garage...after happening to them a few times...then it was fine...they supposedly found ... 2005 Ford Freestyle Low Oil Pressure Problem

Re: 2005 Ford Freestyle Low Oil Pressure Problem [rhondak]

(It has nothing to do with synthetic oil.) The answer is in TSB 06-20-7, something that other people on these forums have encountered. Take the info below to your Ford dealer. Note, if your original 3-year, 36,000 mile warranty is over, then this can be fixed for free under the EPA Emissions Warranty. Ask the Ford dealer about that warranty, and if they still want ... 2005 freestyle sunroof leak

My 05 freestyle started to leak at the sunroof area after heavy rain, and the car parked at an incline. I took a look at the leak place and notice that the water is coming out of the third row seatbelt harness area (driver side). I did some research and found out that there is a TSB out there: 07-03-6. The reason is the rear drain hose is not routed properly. Anyone know ... Read More...

Ford Freestyle Rear Brakes

Re: Better pad solution for rear brakes? [fordwrench]

I have a 2005 Freestyle and have the same issues with my rear brakes/tires as mentioned by so many of you. The difference with me, and the reason I am writing, is that my car has 37K on it. I had my brakes diagnosed in march 07, and it was fixed. When the "extended warranty" mail came, I was reimbursed for the cost, but I think they installed the same "bad" pads as fordwrench ... Re: CORRECTION TO THE ABOVE [hypnosis44]

Here we go with Consumer Reports again. CU's "reliability" data is subject to question because they poll only their own subscribers to obtain it. Only a small percentage return the survey. From this they make large and often erroneous conclusions. It's hardly a scientific sampling of automobile owners. Save for the rear-brake early wear issue (fixed for free ... Read More...
