6000 Miles. The car has been in the shop a total of 26 days. The tranny was rebuilt 2 times on the first trip in to service before it was replaced on the trip in. The software for the entire car has been reflashed on both trips to the service dept. The car wont idle at low speeds and the the car will shut down for no reason. This car is a safety hazard and will eventually get someone killed. It is a shame because the car could have been a great asset to Ford instead Ford puts out a piece of crap and refuses to admit they have a problem with this car. Save yourself a headache. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR.
Exterior styling, interior styling. Its hard to come up with favorites when the car spends so much time in the shop.
The tranny was pulled and had parts relaced twice on the first visit. Ford replaced the tranny on the second visit. The car has had software issues on both visits. The new tranny is starting to do the grinding issue again. Everything has been done under warranty. The car looks great, handles great and rides great but the car is extreamly un reliable and has safety issues. I would not recommend purchasing a 2012 Focus. If you have not found it yet there is a site " focusfanatics.com " that will give you all the horror stories from people that have also purchased a 2012 Focus and have also found the car to be unreliable.
With the car shutting down, did Ford or the dealers give you a reason it could be happening?
Also, I'm assuming the car is shutting down at stop lights?
While your car was in the shop for a total of 26 days, did it all deal with strictly the transmission?
Did the problems ever subside/get fixed after you went to get it serviced?
I'm also assuming that this was all covered by the warranty?
When did you purchase this car?
I'm thinking about purchasing this car and I'm trying to get as many opinions as possible. Your response would help greatly!
The car was purchased at the end of Oct 2011. Yes if you read comments on other sites there are still continuing problems with these cars even with purchases after 2012 and later buid dates. Most of the issues will start up once the car reaches 500-1000 miles. In my case even with a new tranny as we are reaching 500 miles the same issues are starting to show up again.
