The 2008-11 Focus was a good seller and the Euro one was overrated. Not all compact car buyers care about European car culture, and want mpg, reliability and low costs. The RS version is nice, but expensive and who can afford it? My 2009 is solid and I don't care that it's not the 2nd gen Euro one, which is ugly, and looks like a shrunken 2005 Ford Five Hundred, which ... Read More
Standard on 2008 SEL and 2008 SE with Deluxe package. Journalists at the performance rags are bashing the Focus. just wonderful. Red is nice but that Goldfinger color is more what I want. I will hold out for what I want and ya know, when I look long and hard at the 2012 Ford Focus hatch or sedan, transmission doesn't matter. 2012 Ford Focus sedan with upgraded 18" wheels and tires This is actually lookin' hotter than Hades to me right now, even with this color. I am going to research this car fully-completely. I'm waiting too. However, not looking to go as high on option packages as you do. I have found that the larger wheels & tires usually result in more NVH and become quite expensive.. Not if it's due to a defect on your vehicle.
If your tires have a 65,000 mile warranty and wore out in 30,000, then the tire mfr should pay about 1/2 the cost of the new tires.
I dont understand why your tires didnt last much longer! I own a 2008 Focus myself with 42,000 miles on it. I have never rotated the tires and they still have good tread!. There must be a reason you are haveing so much trouble!. If you ever find out why this is happening please let us know
And you thought they fixed the alignment issues in the 2008s! Don't be fooled! First set of tires went around 18,000 miles--they blamed it on me, said I didn't get them rotated enough. So, after another $500 and a brand new set of Pirellis, I faithfully rotated every 6,000 miles with my oil changes---didn't do much better, my 65,000 mile tires last about 30,000 miles! ---------------- Hey! The 2008 Ford FOCUS brochure indicates that cruise-control is available on the Focus S, but the Ford website will not allow selection of cruise control when building a Focus S. Is the FOCUS brochure wrong, or is the Ford website broken? I want to build a 2008 FOCUS coupe with automatic and factory cruise-control, but not SYNC or ugly white-face gauges. A quick check of the Toyota website clearly indicates that Toyota will unveil their redesigned Corolla and Matrix vehicles on Halloween with a big fanfare. Does anyone doubt that the new Corolla will leave the competition in the dust? .....I don't think so!!! I DO !!!!!!!!!!! Toyota is starting to fall from grace. They are losing top execs left and right. There's probably a good reason why. Today Toyota got some ... Read More
My 2005 Focus ST with the 2.3 liter and 5-speed manual transmission is still running flawlessly at 47,000 miles. Observations? It is still a joy to drive with perfect on-center feel and tracking (lacking in so much of the competition). The Focus goes where it is pointed with a sense of purpose and control. It exits a curve with wonderful torque and power. There is a lot of road noise, addressed ... Read More

Good review. As a representative of Ford, I wanted to clarify some of the information on SYNC. For vehicles that are used by multiple drivers or passengers, SYNC can identify, store and pair the Bluetooth information for up to 12 cell phones. However, only 1 cell phone can be connected to and used with SYNC at the same time. For convenience, you can designate one phone as the "primary" phone. The ... Read More
Your experience is EXACTLY why Ford didn't bring over the Euro Focus. There were quality build problems from day 1 because Ford couldn't figure out its supply chain properly. Plus quality standards in Europe are much lower than they are in the US. Just look at VW in Europe vs US. VW is huge in Europe but small in the US because Americans hate quality issues. The 2008 Focus was designed ... Read More
My old Focus was complete junk. I liked the styling and handling. But it fell to pieces 2 days after I bought it new. I had high hopes for the 2008. Looks like Ford brought back the Tempo.
This review takes an awful lot of pot-shots at the Toyota Corolla, considering that that car is also about to be redesigned--a 2009 model will appear in early 2008. Also noteworthy: the Corolla will be an all-new design, rather than a rehash of the current platform, like the '08 Focus. All the talk about tech is also a bit funny, considering that the Focus' engines are unchanged since 2005, its automatic ... Read More
Amen, klx74! I agree! This new(?) Focus will sell well...Whether it's superior to the Civic, or even the new Corolla (due next year) is debatable, but it WILL sell! I just wish Ford had kept the 5dr and added ESC to its safety features. Oh well... Peace!<- <-AladdinSane--
The author fails to mention that there is no longer a telescopic steering wheel. The car is a downgrade in terms of exterior styling. I own a 2006 Focus, and I love it, but this one is pretty ugly. Enthusiasts- It was nice to know you. No aftermarket for this baby.
Edmunds.com has first drives of the 2008 Focus and Astra on their main page. Looks like both are better than the cars they replaced, and Edmunds says the Astra is the best small GM car ever sold in America. I suppose that could be considered "faint praise", but it's a positive sign for GM. The Focus has apparently lost its sporty handling and has become softer, and also quieter, and has ... Read More
I don't know maybe I am reading to much into the bad mouthing of a cheap nice car that works I own a 2005 and the car is sound and not one bit a problem except for breaking the center console once, if that is a major problem I guess I just over looked it. Ok it is a face life but I do believe it will compete well since they ... Read More

As a Ford representative I'd like to clarify the text message function of SYNC. Through voice commands you can have SYNC read your incoming text messages aloud. After reading or hearing it, the text message can be forwarded to another phone or a reply, using any of the 15 preset text messages, can be sent. However, the text message reply and forwarding mechanisms are speed dependent for safety. If the vehicle ... Read More
I was considering the 2007 and 2008 Ford Focus over the summer. The 2007 would have been a great deal, but the car was just too dated at that point even though it had a lot of virtues such as a good ride/handling combo. I had hope for the '08 model, but I don't like the way it looks. It'll probably look a bit different in person, but I think that ... Read More
Anyone have any thoughts on the upcoming 2008 Focus.I was always put off buy the many problems that plagued the early Focus models.I wasn't going to give the Focus a look because it is based on a ten year old platform. But some of the tweaks that Ford has made sound interesting.
ford finally made an attractice focus zx5 wagon in 2007,with the handsome body package and sunroof.really sharp. should ford continue to sell that vehicle in 2008-2009 until the euro focus arrives.as they did with the 2 door escort, when the focus arrived.?
