There are people out there who still want to buy American and will choose the Focus over those others. Have you sat in one recently? The quality is far better than the 2007.....To make it a 5,000 off car you have to go into HOLDBACK to do it....that is not the first option. HB on a Focus is in the 550's. I bought my 2007 Focus SE 2.0l about 2-3 months ago when it had about 1200 miles on it. I have been getting about 34-37 MPG with about 80% highway. I had one trip on the interstate where I did get 40 MPG. I have a little over 4000 miles on it now and I wonder what kind of mpg I will see in the future. But the way to bash the '08 American Focus is not in the reliability issues, as recently the Focus already beats most German cars in this area after using Mazda technology under the hood. Sorry 2 hear about your car issues. My loaded 03 ZTW just passed 36K and has had ZERO problems, other than a battery (which leaked after 4 years, corroding the cable, which needed to be replaced). Batteries only last 2 years in FL, and I had this one for 1 1/2 years in ND + 2 1/2 in FL, so 4 years was awesome (corroding the cable sucked, though...) I went to Autozone and ... Read More...

Last car was a 2004 Pontiac Vibe. Sold it and bought this car new. Paid 13,300 with a 5-spd trans. The focus drives like a sports car, no doubt about it. I am in process of trading in my 2000 focus for a new one... my fuel pump was recalled - i had already replaced it so i got my deductible back. since i started with a different mechanic (because i moved) every time he touches one thing another goes out - so i am towing it to ford and starting over - probably i will pay the extra with this one when warranty is up and stick with ... Just bought a 2007 SE. Great deal with all the rebates. So far about 400 miles on the car. It is not quite what I am used to, but a fun car to drive.
