Kinda dead here. But this is a pertinent topic for me as I am working on narrowing down the choice of my next car among several compact hatches. The main candidates right now, in alphabetical order, are: Ford Focus SE 5MT: Plusses are a slick 5-speed stick, composed chassis, excellent EPA fuel economy numbers, and a flat load floor. Also it will likely be the lowest priced car (if purchased new) ... Read More

I'm afraid it could effect my car battery, could this be possible? Pls advice.
which is not what you expected from a "Focus". Why would Ford do this to you? Take a look at the BMW 1-series. It's nearly as expensive as the 3-series, but w/ much less rear leg room plus a more spartan interior. That's b/c the 1-series is really a 3-series shrunken down. So pretty much everything is just as complicated, & thus hardly any less expensive to build. The new Mk3 ... Read More

I know I left money on the table because I didn't want to deal with a scummy dealer that offered -750 off invoice and kept changing his mind. I also bought ... Read More
It was a Ford factory extended warranty, I think the premier plan. $100 deductible after the bumper to bumper warranty runs out. Covers almost everything not covered by the new extended factory powertrain warranty (which I realize is shorter than last year's special Focus extended powertrain warranty). It also includes for the entire length a rental car from day 2 in the shop.
"I would not want to pay $15,000.00 for ANY Focus"...that is strictly your opinion...There a many people, that, (with the $3000.00 rebate off of invoice for a 2006 ZX5 SES) (which, by the way is loaded for bear) "WILL" buy same. In fact, if you check the Ford dealer inventories, the 2006 Focus are just about all gone. The reason, the rebates off of invoice. Many, many people shop price (a ... Read More
If a new Ford Focus is $19,000.00 MSRP and you get a $3000.00 rebate off of invoice (about $18,000.00) which means you buy it for $15000.00....how do you figure you t eat a $7000 t0 $8000 loss.. My figures come out to a $4000.00 hit according to your $11,000.00 figure. Let's face it, you can buy ANY Focus at INVOICE right NOW!!! I know what you meant, but let's call it ... Read More

You should check to see if your trunk is wet as well. I know my boyfriend just got a 2007 Focus SE and we found out after having it only a week that the back window is leaking into the trunk, and then down on to the floor of the car. :| Not Impressed. Ford still hasn't given a solution and still has his car for another day.
That few hundred over invoice might be a wash because of no "extra added dealer fees". Do they have any "extra added fees" usually? Figure out your exact cost at "INVOICE" thru the Edmunds site with all of your added options. Then see what your price would have been as compared to the X-Plan pricing. Remember, there is a hefty rebate on the Focus. I have bought several Ford/Mercury vehicles with ... Read More
I took a long, hard look at the Reno last fall. In case you didn't know, it is the hatchback version of the Suzuki Forenza, so if you want information on the platform, you can go to the Forenza forum and ask there. In the end I got a Hyundai Elantra. Roughly the same cost, but I think it's a much nicer car for the money. It also is a lot ... Read More
The word on the internet is that *if* there is a hatch version of the Elantra, it will be a 2008 model year release. The Ford Focus only comes with three doors in a hatch-back and four doors in a sedan. Go to Ford's Focus website and you will see the Focus comes as a 3-door hatch (ZX3), 4-door sedan (ZX4), 5-door hatch (ZX5), and a wagon (ZXW). Before buying my ... Read More
Spy photos of the "revised" Ford Focus for 2007 have been released. Nothing changes except the front grill and possibly the headlights. Is this supposed to increase sales? http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=29&article_id=10702
The next generation Focus is due either for the 2007 or 2008 model year. I suspect it will be for 2008 but will be introduced in spring of 2007. No information has been released on plans for the Focus. Ford probably has not decided what to do. Supposedly the next generation is going to remain on the current platform with design "tweeks". The Euro version, if sold in this country, would ... Read More
I love the Mini and I have a 2005 and likely will be trading it in for the 2007. THe Civic is great as well. However the Focus well let me just put it this way its a Ford so no comment Lol
1. Yes the quality has improved steadily. I would recommend anything from 2002 on. 2. Yes the 2005 2.0 is a Mazda-design which is called the Duratec. It is manufactured by Ford in the case of the Focus and Mazda manufactures the same engine for some Mazdas. The head design is more efficient then the older 2.0 Zetec. The Focus Duratec motors began in some mid 2003 Foci and was at ... Read More
Cost, potential quality glitches are behind decision Although Ford Motor Co. wants to develop more cars and trucks from global platforms, it’s making an exception for the next-generation Ford Focus. When the re-engineered Focus is introduced to the United States in 2007, it will not share mechanicals with the C1 version of the Focus sold in Europe.
