2005 Ford Focus Sedan ZX4 SE 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I initially got some bad advice from people about buying a Ford. Although I've had the car for only a couple of months, I find those complaints to be unfounded. It's not the most comfortable car in the world for long drives, but it definitely allows for a fun drive. The steering is very nice, the sound system is very good, and the fuel economy leaves nothing to be desired. All around, a great buy for the money.

Best Features

Sound System. Interior Styling (very roomy).

Worst Features

More comfortable seats.

2005 Ford Focus Sedan ZX4 ST 4dr Sedan (2.3L 4cyl 5M)

Review

The ST is a terrific choice if you're looking for a performance sedan at a low price. It has razor-sharp steering response and great feel, strong brakes, and a suspension that strikes a nice balance between sport and comfort. The 2.3 engine has a lot of torque, but seems to run out of steam over 5000 rpm. The ST is also a solid highway cruiser, and tracks straight as a laser. Best of all, this is an easy car to upgrade with aftermarket parts. I drove all the small sport sedans, and if cost is no object, the Mazda 3s is a marginally better car overall than the Focus (the Toyota Corolla XS and Kia Spectra 5 are also pretty nice), but with all the discounts, is it REALLY $6,000 better?

Best Features

Sharp handling and steering, loves to be tossed hard into corners, playful personality, cool engine note, plenty of power, good comfort/sport trade off, good interior room and comfort, solid highway cruiser, lots of goodies, sharp looks, bargain price.

Worst Features

Disappointing gas mileage (though my lead foot is probably partially to blame), lackluster high-rpm performance, some cheap interior materials, plain Jane back seat, no side curtain airbags.

2005 Ford Focus Sedan ZX4 ST 4dr Sedan (2.3L 4cyl 5M)

Review

What a smooth ride! It's FAST and MANEUVERABLE and has great stopping power. It looks GREAT and turns heads. It's very sporty.

Best Features

The manual transmission is smooth. It has lots of trunk space, even with the premium sound system. Lots of safety features, such as advanced airbags.

Worst Features

The big antenna on the front top center is was bit of an eyesore. This was easily remedied by replacing it with a small premium antenna however, making this car absolutely perfect in every way.

2005 Ford Focus Sedan ZX4 ST 4dr Sedan (2.3L 4cyl 5M)

Review

3 months owning the car and am more impressed than when I first bought it. MPG holding in the upper 20s, handles like a dream with a responsive Mazda engine. Hopefully the engine will last like my 13 year old Miata, which @ 140,000 miles is almost indestructible. Ford is doing their homework to compete with the imports.

Best Features

Sunroof, Sony sound system, traction control and the sport tuned suspension.

Worst Features

The 16 inch wheels look out of place with the high roof line -- could use 17 inch; also a little more character on the interior just a little to bland.

Review

Very pleased with the vehicle so far. I took her out for a ride some nice back roads with some hills and a lot of curves. I was very impressed with its handling capabilities; it sticks to the road like glue. Acceleration is not a problem and going through the gears is quite easy. The ride is a bit stiff, but the car's handling makes up for that. The steering is incredibly responsive and the independent rear suspension makes cornering a breeze. The seats are comfortable and the interior has plenty of room. The seats are comfortable and the interior has plenty of room, at least for the driver. All in all a good little car for the money.

Best Features

Fun to drive, and handles great.

Worst Features

None
