Review of the 2004 Ford Focus

  • The 2004 Ford Focus is a wonderful small car that's fun to drive, frugal with fuel and offered in such a wide variety of configurations it would be hard not to find one that suits your needs.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Thoughtful ergonomics, spacious interior, fun-to-drive character, sharp steering, impressive selection of body configurations and features.

  • Cons

Seats aren't comfortable for everyone, not as reliable as some other cars in its segment.

  • What's New for 2004

The emissions-friendly 2.3-liter PZEV engine released in limited states in 2003 is now available as an option in all states (it comes standard in California, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont and Maine). The only other notable changes to the 2004 Ford Focus are newly optional leather seating for ZX3 models, and a slightly revised suspension offers improved handling.

Loads of room inside

Vehicle: 2004 Ford Focus SE 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl 4A)

This wagon holds a ton of stuff. We are using it to go camping and there's loads of room for everything and everybody. It's a zippy little vehicle and easy to park in small spaces. Surprisingly smooth ride for such a small car. It looks very sleek ,unlike some of the SUVs we considered. Fuel economy is great. Altogether a very good buy.

Disappointing fuel economy

by on
Vehicle: 2004 Ford Focus SE 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl 4A)

Although we have only put on 6900 miles so far, I am disappointed with the fuel economy (5 speed manual). Much of our driving is rural and we are seeing generally slightly less than 30mpg. We are still driving our 1995 Ford Escort Wagon 5 speed manual with 220000 miles that is still getting close to 40mpg (summer). Owners manual said to wait until after about 5000 miles to check mpg, which we have and still hasn't improved.

Good car for low price

I like the car and would recommend it to anyone who wants a decent car for a good price.

My new 2.3l 2004 ford

Vehicle: 2004 Ford Focus SE 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl 4A)

I love my car! I had a 2001 Ford Mustang and the lease was due in early June 2004. I decided to turn in my mustang and get a Focus. I was worried about the power of the focus (especially after coming from a 6 cyl mustang). But to my surprise this little 2.3L engine puts out decent power for its size! It acutally feels a little more responsive on the low end than my mustang. The only time I notice the difference between the 2 cars is when I floor it on the highway. And even still the focus does a good job at getting up to speed. It's spacious, Economical, good looking, comfortable, and just feels right!

Little red wagon

Vehicle: 2004 Ford Focus SE 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl 4A)

I love my little red wagon. It's very easy to drive,,,I've made several road trips in it already and its very comfortable. Gas mileage is good too.

So far, couldn't have asked

Vehicle: 2004 Ford Focus SE 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl 4A)

This is the first car i have owned, but far from the first one i have driven and i am very happy with my focus. The power comes smooth and i hardley notice the shifts, it cursies nicely and handles very well for its class. The interior seems to be put together well and i am yet to have a real complain about this car.
