Our 2003 ZTW ~70k started getting a vibration, that was worse in reverse and which also decreased after it warmed up, however it got progressively worse over time, it turned out to be the passenger side hydraulic motor mount, which wasn't to difficult to change. I also have a 2003 focus SE, and tranni is doing the same thing, had the car scanned and it shows P0761 shift solenoid "C" performance or stock off, called ford and they don't know which solenoid is "C", tranni has 6 solenoids 3 are the same, 2 are also the same and the 6th is a different one, in other words there are 3 diff. solonoids but they couldn't tell me which one ... I read to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and reconnect it. My display was flashing on and off constantly, whether the radio was on or off. I disconnected the battery, waited 10 minutes and reconnected the cable, and it works fine now - no more flashing!. Read More...

92 k+, when car is cold tranni shifts fine. after 20mi. or so it starts jerking from 1st to 2nd gear and overdrive will not engage, trans. overheat light comes on, but if you re-start car light stays off, as a result of no o/d engine light comes on, had it checked it it shows P0761 shift solenoid "c" performance or stuck off, have you had this problem? ford does not know ... I own a 2006 ZX4 SES (Sedan) and my car was exhibiting what sounds from your description to be exactly the same problem. My car's squeaking was emanating from two places: Underneath the car, there is a bracket and bushing assembly which supports the parking brake cable near the rear suspension. I am glad that you have had such great "luck" with your car. I had the Focus serviced as recommended by the owners manual. That car was babied! I have since sold the 2003 Focus and purchased a Toytota Camry. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER FORD!! Read More...

I guess our Ford Focus is an anomaly after reading the posts on this thread. We bought a bare-bones 2001 Ford Focus new and now has 156K miles on it and have not had any problems save for an issue with "aggressive" break pads in the first year. I feel your pain and feel EXACTLY the same way you do. We bought a Honda Odessey. I still have my piece of crap Ford Focus-we would not even offer it for a trade in-it's that worthless. Ford Customer service is a joke, and a sad one at best. Ford does not stand behind there products. They build them to BARELY last as long as the warrenty-then after that it's so long sucker. ... Bought 2003 Ford Focus in 2004...car had 33K on it.....I also bought an extended warranty. In 2006, I had the transmission fixed under warranty. Yeah, fluid is fine. It has been doing it since about 60k and it has 85k now. Took it in and had it looked at when I first noticed it and was told that "all is well." Was wondering if EVERYONE with the slip problems has the check engine light accompanying their troubles. I'll have computer scanned tomorrow.. Thanks, I'll post with results soon as I get them.
