I bought my Focus new. I am also very good with the maintenance. Nothing but problems from the start. Rotors and brakes were a problem from the manufacturer. Then came sensor troubles. Too many recalls. Next was the 4 times I had to have the stereo replaced due to a battery that was going bad..it took 4 tries to figure that out? Then went the air compressor at 36,000 miles only to follow 2 months later with the evaporator core in the air conditioning. ($1,000.00 each!) Next went the faulty alarm system. Lastly, if you turn the radio up loud enough, you can't hear the horrible vibrations! The worst part is the fact that the car has NO value!! Going shopping for a Honda now!
Nice amenities, when everything works. Great power options. 6 disc in dash CD changer, 16" tires and aluminum rims., sporty looking.
Build a better car that has lasting parts in it, and a great goal would be a car that will retain some value!
I purchased a 2001 Ford Focus SE with 13,000 miles, which is unbelieveably low for that year,. It has 24,000 miles on it now, and been using it for 3 months. It has a wonderful ride and smooth acceleration. Never had any problems with it, previous owner was a old couple and rarely used the car. Still has the new car smell and everything inside and out looks like brand new. The sound system is wonderful! All of my friends loved it and they are thinking about buying one like mine. Although the one thing that Ford needs to improve is the gas mileage because I only get 270 miles on full gas tank.
I had a large Town car prior to the Focus. When I test drove this car, I was very surprised on how this car handled. I enjoy a 5 speed and with 16" rims and size 205 low profile tires on a small car car; this car handlings is EXCELLENT. Mileage during the summer with the air conditioner on is about 25 mpg. I average about 22,000 a year. My daughter bought a new Focus in 2003. It's a 4 door, 5 speed standard with regular rims and tires. I was surprised her car was even quicker than mine. In general, my next car will be a Focus. You have a great little car here, please continue to move forward with it.
Handles great with 16" rims and low profile tires. Good on gas, and when on the highway going 80 mph, the tachometer is only showing about 3200 rpm. Air and heat works great.
Driver seat is wearing out (I average 22,000 mile per year) . Had one call back which was covered by Ford, but less than a year later, the same thing had problems. Ford would not fix it under the recall. This ended costing me over $500 and took a week.
I recently bought my Silver 2001 Focus SE and so far I LOVE IT!!! It has power everything, CD player, automatic, (loaded). I looked at Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Saturn, Dodge and I kept coming back to the focus. I was glad to hear that it was voted 10 best five years in a row and I could definitely see myself getting another focus, but this time the ZX5 in midnight blue, when I'm ready to trade my silver focus in. But that won't be for a long time.
CD player, sound system, comfort, interior features, remote keyless entry, console, and the TRUNK SPACE.
I only have two complaints. I don't really like the positioning of the cup holders. You can't fit large-sized cups from drive-thrus in them. And I wish there were headrests in the back
This car was bought for my wife and
daughter. They are short and still could
see the corners of the car and reach the
pedles with ease. The surprise was when
I drove it, I had head room and leg
room. (I'm 6') I love to drive it on
our back roads in the area. They are
hilly and windy giving you all the
opportunity to drive. This car is FUN

Fun to Drive. Good fuel mileage. Easy to
get in and out. Good view from driver
seat. Depndable on hills and in snow.
