    It's not a voltage issue. The alternator was replaced becuase it was not charging (11.5v). The alternator that is on it now is working fine. I've already checked the voltage, which was over 14v under full load with the A/C on high and the high beams lit.     with you engine running press brake pedal and see if your brake lights illuminate. if they don't, your brake position switch is bad and causing the problem.

    Primary trans pump or some other major part of the trans. If it is a solenoid issue it wil usually have some function left. Get it scanned to check and go from there. good luck D

    Not yet- I am hoping it could be a motor mount issue or something other than the tranny, but I am going to have it checked out at a shop. I have also noticed that the vibration is worse when the car is leaning forward down the hill (in park). Much softer and almost normal when the nose is uphill. About the same result in reverse, too.

    I own a 2001 Ford Focus and when the car is first started in the morning and you shift the car to reverse there is a loud vibration that you can feel and hear. Once the car is running for a while the vibration is almost gone but still feel it a little only when you shift it into reverse. The transmission shifts fine and drives fine.

    You might try resetting the "check engine light" by disconnecting the battery pos lead for a short while. The computer will reset when you reconnect the battery. Then if the light comes back on after a few minutes or a few days or a few weeks there might actually be something wrong.

    I just got my car back from the dealer after a clutch replacement and it did the same thing. It even died in the middle lane of the expressway! I had to have it towed tonight, with less than 10 miles after the repair. Did you get any useful info?

    Sorry to hear that how much trouble you are having. I have a 2001 and have some issues, but have been pretty lucky so far I guess. As far as Ford service departments, I too have found that they are not only useless but some of them are crooks as well. I would take the car to the best local mechanic you can find....or sell it I guess.

    I have a 2000 Ford Focus and our local dealership told us that ford does not know what causes the brakes to squeal. I have replaced mine numerous times and they start it right back up, it gets embarrassing!!! It's a shame Ford doesn't know how to fix them.

    Hi. I recently had freon added to my 2001 ZX3. The mechanic searched and searched and finally referred to his computer guide. Anyway, the frean went into a port that was located behind the front passenger tire. He had to remove the tire and a bit of plastic around the wheel well to get to it.
