For the amount of money you could spend
on transportation of your choice, the
Ford ZTS is just about everything you
could want in a small family car. It
is very economical (28-33 m.p.g.),very
attractive in and out, well laid out
interior and instruments. My
only "beef" is that it is still under
powered, especially with th A/C on.
PLEASE, Ford, offer the ZTS with the
same engine you put in those ugly
This is the worst car I've ever owned
from a quality standpoint. 8 recalls.
Had the a/c compressor replaced, three
weeks later the evaporator coil had to
be replaced. The transmission leaked
and had to take it back 3 times to get
it fixed by the world's sorriest
excuse for a service department.
Realized several months after the a/c
evaporator was replaced the heat
didn't blow out of the floor vents
anymore- dealer didn't hook back up
correctly and then didn't want to take
responsibility. Front drive hubs
replaced at 38,000 mi.
I all around enjoy this vehicle. I
don't think that after owning this car
I will be able to drive anything else
like it (cavalier, neon, civic)
because the road handling is THAT
GOOD. Engine is peppy when it is
needed and the car reinforces that
feeling with a good sound. It could
use some more pep, but Ford fixed that
with the 2003/4 PZEV engine. I am
truely extatic with this car
(purchased used last July for $10.5k).
Go to a Ford dealership,
test drive the car and take it on a
hilly and curvy road and you too will
understand why this car is so much fun
Steering is impecable, makes anything,
ANYTHING, in the same class look and
feel like a toy. The trunk space is
huge for a compact car. The ride
height is also very nice, I am 6'4"
tall and have a good 5" of space over
my head (seat fully UP!).
Brake dust (fixed w/ 4-wheel disc
brakes), road noise at "excessive"
speeds (fixed in 2003), rear seat
lighting. Revoking Klaben Ford's
dealer license (sold the vehicle to me
in "pristine condition", had a broken
spring in the front).
Excellent car. No issues save a couple
transparent recalls. Handles very
well, fun to drive. The car is very
comfportable with and amazing amount of
interior for its size. The stock sound
system is. So far wer have a little
over 60,000 trouble free miles.
stereo and handling
The opening for the trunk could be a
little bigger. Some items that would
otherwise fit in the surprising large
space won't fit through the opening.
Now that the hatchback comes in a five
door I would recomend instead of the
sedan for the above reason.
Minor and annoying repairs - lights on
radio keyboard died in 1st
year...doors squeek...needed a
complete brake job at 24,500
miles...ashtray must be closed to use
the lighter [warning for smokers who
are also trying to charge their cell
peppy, handles well - speed ticket
trunk is very large for a car this
