Loved car when bought. Still like it,
but tired of quirky surprises! Had a
cracked AC line 6 months after
purchase. It was at dlrshp 3 mths
waiting for for the part to come in.
Many recalls. Most recent on fuel pump.
Car can't be started to move just
couple of feet in driveway or critical
valve sticks and car won't restart. Dlr
says drive around block to avoid
problem. Prblm with wires in steering
column caused exterior light failure on
2 diff. occasions. Brakes(rotors too)
had to be replaced. Crz cntrl would not
remain engaged; had to be repaired.
Ignition swtch went bad, key would not
go into the ignition. Many rpr bills
while still making car pymts!
Acceleration, sharp steering, good
stereo, good trunk space, roomy,
reasonable gas mileage.
Install parts and provide workmanship
as if Ford was going to pay for any
repairs that arise. The consumer is
paying for sloppy manufacturing.
Here's a partial list in order of
importance: cruise control (3 times),
Horn (twice), water pump exploding
($350), on-board computer system
($750), engine lights consistently
staying on keeping me from passing
emissions ($1000) and the worst of them
all: the engine mounts breaking and my
engine falling out! This ran me
another $1,000. Also, I had two minor
wrecks at less than 15 MPH. The damage
due to those was amazing as the shoddy
workmanship really showed. I couldn't
have made a worse choice than the Focus.
Nice sound system for factory. Large
trunk. It's a fun drive for its class.
You just have to make a car that
doesn't fall apart! It's awful how
American automobiles can't compete in
the entry class of cars. Incidently,
I just bought a 2000 Accord.
I bought this car brand new. Since
then i have had numourous recalls on
it. It has been very inconvenient
constantly have the car in the shop.
The ignition has locked on me on
several occasions. THank you ford for
extending the warrenty. No thank you
for not extending the whole warrenty
not just the powertrain. Klaben was
very unprofessional in their help. It
was fun to drive. Just very
Exterior body style. Fuel Emissions.
Go back to the drawing board. Economy
doesn't mean poor quality.
1)Record recalls and svce maintenance.
2)Inadequate driver seating for folks
over 6 ft tall.(I'm 6 2" and have to
recline the seat so I don't hit my head
on the roof 3)A/C is a joke. 4)Engine
is noisy and rattly after 40K miles. 5)
Interior head fabric separates from
roof after 42K miles. 6)Headlight falls
out at 25K miles. 7)Cupholders (console)
can't accomodate starbucks or Dunkin'
Donuts medium size cups. 8)Original
Goodyear tires are too expensive for
such cheap car... $164 to replace a
tire when I drove into a pot hole. 9)
Motor in two power windows broke at 20K
miles. 10)Ford Focus is a terrible
wedding anniversary gift
When I think of one, it will be
announced on major TV networks.
Dear Ford, please trash car and refund
I just traded my focus in and I'm glad
about it. If you don't have to buy a
focus get something else. It's cute
and all but it feels exactly like your
driving a little go-cart. I think it
was made for high school kids who were
purchasing their first car. This is
not a car for adults!
You can park almost anywhere!(I didn't
have a garage, but I probably could
have put it in my basement) The
ergonomic design of the dashboad and
the huge trunk space.
Ummm ... Ford should make their Focus
drive less like a go-cart and more like
a real car.
