See my Edmunds review. This is our second Focus, the last in 2000 which we still own, which is a dream and has been zero headache whatsoever. This new one has a lot going for it in the style, headroom (we're a tall family) and zip areas, but drawbacks in the ride, trans and cloth seat staining. Trans is the biggest problem.
* Driver's seat wasn't comfortable: no matter how I adjusted it, it never fit me well. If I raised the seat bottom, the seat tilted forward so my thighs didn't get enough support. If I lowered the seat for good thigh support, it was too low for my taste. That's what I hate about newer cars these days, as if you are forced to get the expensive overweight motorized seats in ... The OTD price will vary depending on your locations because of the sales taxes and lic fees, as well as the dealer doc fees (which is all profit but I was told that is non-negotiable from several local dealers. Yeah there's more than one fusible link. Best way is to just trace the wires off the battery post with your finger and look for that "bulge" which is the fusible link. it's either that or a few burned fuses or (gulp) damaged relay/box or wiring harness. I think it's fuses though given how it's acting and what he did.
I did look at all that already. everything is good. Someone told me to look at all the wires coming off the battery. But i am going to go look agian and what you said to check. maybe i over look something. Thanks for the reply Mr Shiftright ;)
First off check the "fusible link" or links which come right off the battery and usually run along the inner fenders. I know there is definity a fusible link in the wire going from the battery to the starter and I'm sure there are others. Also check the regular fuse box in the car.

I am unfortunate enough to have a 2000 ford focus. After driving home from work the car sat for 20 minutes then would not start. No clicking noise, just a humming noise. Later that day I noticed that the power door locks also won't work. When I hit the fob to lock the doors I get the same humming noise as when I try to start the car. Is it a ... Read More
Hi, I have a 2000 focus sedan and I love the car. It is auto. A few months back the transmission light started coming on for short periods so I got the auto serviced. Much smoother changes but a few months later I have serious problems with the gauges. For no apparent reason and always at low speed the ABS, hand break engaged, and transmission service lights will come on, radio ... Read More
The transmission died today. The car has 61,000 miles. I did not use and abuse this car, bought new. Ford Motor Co can not help because it was purchased from an independent dealership. Ford number: 1-800-392-3673. (Ford and their dealers agreed on a six (6) year limit for problems) You HAVE to take it to a dealership for evaluation to be input into Ford's system for them to TRY to help ... Read More

It did. I guess what I'm asking is is $350.00 to much? My key has a chip in it. Can I do this myself. I'm lost when it comes to working ... Read More
I had this problem on my 2000 as well. You may need to replace the key tumbler and/or possibly have a new key cut. I replaced the tumbler in mine, and never had another problem with it.
My key won't turn and the steering wheel seems locked. I can't take it out of gear. I bought the car from a friend. the steering casing or what ever you call it was replaced about six months ago. Any help???? thanks
Oh dear God. What did they do to the poor Focus? Yeash. When it came out in the States in 2000, it was "different" but very good looking and fresh in my opinion (hell we owned two of them at one point). But the first refresh dulled it down (especially in the interior) and now this refresh is just an abomination. Ugh. Looks like some sort rejected Saturn design. Ford, what ... Read More
