    Might also want to try spraying the rheostats with contact cleaner, which is available through Radio Shack or Frys. I had simular issue on the radio volume control and was able to fix it with contact cleaner. Also check the the connector for loose wires. FORD Fix Or Repair Daily Steve

    Yeah there's more than one fusible link. Best way is to just trace the wires off the battery post with your finger and look for that "bulge" which is the fusible link. it's either that or a few burned fuses or (gulp) damaged relay/box or wiring harness. I think it's fuses though given how it's acting and what he did.

    First off check the "fusible link" or links which come right off the battery and usually run along the inner fenders. I know there is definity a fusible link in the wire going from the battery to the starter and I'm sure there are others. Also check the regular fuse box in the car.

    Try removing the batter cable, leaving it off for atleast 2 minutes. Then put batter cable back on and start. At very minimum your computer will be reset and if the problem re-occurs, you will know it is not a matter of rebooting the computer to solve the problem. I have encountered the electric problem with dash gauges going wild, but mine is usually the battery cable working loose and battery not charging.     Stock tires for focus are; 195/60-15 & 185/65-14 You got a 50 50 chance. You can call the Ford parts Dept and give them the last 8 digits of your vin # and ask them for 4 rims and ask them the size, 14 or 15. When they tell you hang up and buy them somewhere else. Good luck

    I'd say bad ground #1, then put a volt meter on the battery when the engine is running and check for variations in current, (do your headlights flicker, if NO, then try===>)if none then I'd say there must be a voltage regulator for the instrument pagel board that is going crazy.

    Is your Focus old enough for the 10 year fuel pump warranty Ford gave. The stalling problem was a symptom of early Foci. I don't recall the particulars, but I have a 2000, since new and can find the letter if you want the info.

    I just had the "power control module" replaced on my 2000 ford focus. My car would not start and couldn't be jumped. The repair guy said it was the power control module and when replaced the car seems to run fine, at least as fine as a 2000 ford focus can run. Hope this helps.

    I had this problem on my 2000 as well. You may need to replace the key tumbler and/or possibly have a new key cut. I replaced the tumbler in mine, and never had another problem with it.
