I bought my f-450 in January, 2008. I work offshore and only have 2600 miles on it so far without any problems. I don't have the 488 rear but I'm not sure if it has the 410 or 430 rear. I believe it's the 410. The fuel milage indicator has me averaging around 10.8 to as high as 12.1 mpg depending on speed. On the highway i've averaged between 70 and 75 mph. I bought the F-450 ... I read the article and I was not impressed. With all the hype Ford is putting out there regarding this truck I would expected better performance when towing the 11 mile stretch. I have a 16k 5th wheel that I pulled form NJ to upper MI with my 2500HD duramax with Banks six gun tuner, monster exhaust and exhaust brake for those hills going across PA and I got 9-12 MPG's! ... I have about 8000mi on my f450 and have noticed only a slight increase in fuel economey. On a recent trip keeping speeds under 75mph the best I could do was about 9mpg. around town I get about 9.9. Towing my boat still gets about 5 to 6mpg. I still love this truck but come on ford, what's up with this mileage? I would love to be able to put a chip on it to increase mileage but ... Read More...

6 weeks ago I bought a new 2008 F-450 Lariat what comes with the new Diesel engine. At first the Diesel was impressive because just of the plain numbers: 350 HP and 650 NM torque.
