2005 350 diesel
Vehicle
2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4dr Crew Cab Lariat 4WD SB (5.4L 8cyl 6M)
Review
Great fuel mileage at 55mph, about 22, lower as speed increases. People notice the truck. Fun to drive and safe in almost all conditions although it's hard to weigh down the bed in snow because of the large payload capacity. Tows almost anything; I have to look to see if my boat is still attached. Had Dodges and liked them but really like this Ford.
Favorite Features
The comfort in this truck is beyond belief. Easily carrys 6 passengers and a full load in the bed without strain. It is fun to drive also. Actually handles very nicely. Wife hates it going through the bank drive-up.
Suggested Improvements
The only improvements are the options I did not select.

Good Idea, Bad Engineering.
Vehicle
2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4dr SuperCab XLT 4WD LB (5.4L 8cyl 6M)
Review
The truck in general is a good truck. But at 30,000 miles I had the turbo replaced. Now with 50,000 miles my gauge cluster, shocks, and CD player are being replaced. The front suspension is being rebuilt by the dealer due to a terrible shimmy at all speeds (TSB). The brake pedal can be pushed all the way to floor, which I'm told is normal for this truck. Only 6 months old and 50,000 miles, I wouldn't recommend this truck to anyone, BUY A DODGE. I was a long time Ford fan, not anymore. Luckily I'll be getting a new one at 200,000 miles
Favorite Features
Transmission.
Suggested Improvements
Front suspension not holding up, too many problems for a new truck.

Mine is a Diesel
Vehicle
2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4dr SuperCab XLT 4WD LB DRW (5.4L 8cyl 6M)
Review
While not listed as an option above, I own the 6.0 power stroke diesel. This is the best performing, handling and visually appealing truck I have ever owned. Power is unreal, fuel consumption is very good for an 8,000 lb truck. I travel extensively in my job and look forward to putting between 400 and 500 thousand miles on this truck.
Favorite Features
Cab is very quiet and very roomy. I have 4 children and can fit them ALL comfortably in this truck. Smooth ride for a 1 ton truck.
Suggested Improvements
Turbo is slow to spool up and handling could be improved. I have had some work done on the front suspension. Nothing major just noisy springs.

A drug addict crossed the yellow line and hit me head on. Long story short, the Chevy 1/2 ton was sent to the junkyard and its driver went to the hospital. My truck has about $5000 worth of damage, and I barely felt a thing.
Favorite Features
Headroom and roominess. Tow command system. Seats.

no need for diesel
Vehicle
2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4dr Crew Cab XL 4WD LB (5.4L 8cyl 6M)
Review
Definitely the biggest on my block, and the new 3V 5.4L V8 is all I really need. If you're not regularly towing 10K+ lbs on long trips, don't waste the $5K on the diesel, and stop waking up the neighbors. :) This new 5.4 makes more HP than the old 460, and almost as much torque but is 2 litres smaller. I get 14MPG around town despite the 315/70/17 (35") BFG all terrains I added. The 2.5" RevTek level kit ($215) gives it a perfect stance, and the tough exterior design is the best of the Big 3. I bought the XL because real trucks were meant to have rubber floors and basic options. Ford's chrome, carpet and leather don't really hold up over time especially if you use your truck like a truck.
Favorite Features
New and improved gas V8, 5 speed auto, 4 ABS disk brakes, huge comfy interior, tough exterior, front coil springs with solid axles, 4.10 limited slip rear, fully manual 4WD system, integrated trailer brakes, great visibility, tall stance, easy-to-clean vinyl floors & the basic bucket seats are perfect.
Suggested Improvements
Get rid of the V10, and give us a strong gas V8 with better gas mileage (duh). I like the 5.4, but I think the GM 6.0 does it better (though I wouldn't buy a Chevy). Interior is quiet, but drive-train is a little noisy. Add a smooth, dual exhaust for a better sound. Interior materials are cheap.

Tough 350
Vehicle
2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4dr Crew Cab Lariat 4WD SB DRW (6.8L 10cyl 6M)
Review
Ford improved so many items on this vehicle. The ride and tighter turning radius is fabulous. The V10 is like an electric powerhouse. The 5 speed automatic seems to be improved. I wish the Ford temperature gauges actually told the consumer what the temperatures are in degrees. Reflectors on the towing mirrors are easily damaged with any encounter; need to be relocated. I tow an 8000 lb trailer and it is hard to notice its presence.
Favorite Features
The turning radius and ride are fabulous. V10 is really quiet and powerful. The power is good but does not feel as strong as the 362 hp and 467 ft lb of torque the factory suggests.
Suggested Improvements
Reflectors on the towing mirrors are too easily damaged. Need to be relocated. Gauges should be incremented with numbers. Paint scratches too easily. The off road tire option is really a road tire.
Bad safety features

Review
This truck has no turning radius at all. It bounces so much when speeds exceed 50 mph that your teeth rattle. In addition, Ford chose to remove some essential safety features, like LATCH anchor for children. I hate this truck. I will never buy a Ford again, or from the dealership
Favorite Features
Looks pretty from the outside
Suggested Improvements
LATCH Anchors. Better shocks
SuperDuty vs Ram

Review
Traded a '03 Ram 2500 4X4, 5.8 hemi for this. Here are my observations so far: The Ram was an excellent truck, just needed something bigger. Best points that Ram has over the Ford are: - Has better storage under front seat, rear seat and front arm rest. - Better cup holders. - Better turn radius. Best points Ford over Ram: - Better ride when loaded. - Power slide back window. - Lights in outside mirrors. -5-speed auto transmission. Trailer Brake Controller! If no other reason to buy a Ford, this is it. If you tow, this is the best!
Favorite Features
-Tow Command w/TBC. -Power back window. -Adjustable power pedals. -4X4 -Diesel. -Marker and turn signal lights in outside mirrors. -Payload and tow weight. -Heated seats. -5-speed auto transmission.
Suggested Improvements
-Needs curb lights and step lights. - GPS - Better entertainment system. - Shorter turn radius. More storage like in the Ram.

F-350 Initial Opinions
Vehicle
2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4dr Crew Cab Lariat 4WD SB (5.4L 8cyl 6M)
Review
I just picked up my new F-350 Diesel. Build quality is excellent, everything works as it should and no issues. I am new to diesel having had several Ford gas engines and this diesel is almost as quiet as the V10 I traded. Great truck, I will report back when there are some miles on it.
Favorite Features
Looks, interior, diesel power, new front suspension (huge improvements).

Best Truck I've Ever Had
Vehicle
2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4dr Crew Cab XLT 4WD LB DRW (6.8L 10cyl 6M)
Review
This truck has been flawless. At 26,000 miles all I have done is put oil and fuel in it. I pull a 40' gooseneck trailer and that has worked great. I have the diesel engine; it is the dually and it rides well. It is a truck so don't expect a Caddy ride. Fuel mileage is not great but I geared it for pulling power, plus it's so fun to drive that it's hard to not put the throttle to the floor. Had Chevys before, spent to much time in the shop with them and the brakes stunk but the Ford built in brake controller works really great and you can stop this truck w/ABS, not with the Chevys I had. Their ABS tands for not braking soon.
Favorite Features
Performance of the motor, wow does it pull hard.
Suggested Improvements
More gain in the built in brake controller, at $46,000.00 there should be a compass/temperature gauge with the truck, better stereo system, and a keyless remote door lock standard.
