Review

My truck has the 7.3 diesel that averages 16 mpg. I drive it rather hard and have had no porblems with it. The auto trans shifts a bit hard, though acceptably. Build quality is good, not up to Lexus/Acura/Infinity standards though. Without Cummins, Dodge wouldn't sell a single HD truck. Cummins is an awesome engine, but resides in a piece of junk "truck". I don't even need to speak about Chevy, all their trucks do is look good in ads and showrooms. Ford is the best HD truck around, just look at tow trucks, construction sites and ambulances...all Ford 1 ton vehicles!

Transmission problem

Review

Transmision not what it should be with the 7.3 power stroke. No warning, just smoked and the temp gauge did not show any heat problem, was in normal range .In shop in Cordele, Ga. Had to leave travel trailer and will have to travel back to pickup when repaired. Rented rental vehicle to travel home 550 miles. Will be replacing at 118,000 miles. I had '95 and replaced transmission at 210,00.

Review

After own a 1995 F-350 the 2002 was a complete surprise. They have improved so many of its features espically the ride and cab room it beats both the Chevy's/GMC's and the Dodges without a doubt.

Excellent Vehicle Choice

Review

Basically, it is a fine vehicle and I am very glad I purchased it. The truck, though relatively new (10053 miles and one year older) runs and rides like the day I drove it home - the only difference is the mileage has steadily gotton better. I am getting about 22 mpg on the highway and 15.8 in the city. I am very pleased and have no regrets. I have read and heard of problems with them from bad trannys, rear ends, shorted wiring harnesses; but haven't witnessed any of this on my truck.

VERY Happy with diesel

Review

We towed through the Northern U.S. pulling an 8000 lb travel trailer, putting the truck through a real acid test. It performed flawlessly. The diesel mileage was great (13-15 mpg) and we passed most, if not all other trucks on hills. We could do this for 12 hrs a day with little fatigue, thanks to the comfort this vehicle provides. It's a Lincoln Continental in wolf's clothing. So far my only warranty issues have been door squeaks, a seat's "Lariat" embroidered logo where the thread was coming undone and a bumper which was slightly off center.

Favorite Features

Diesel engine, comfort, power, brakes, rugged yet elegant styling, fuel economy (is this REALLY a 7300 lb truck!?)

Suggested Improvements

The stereo is ok but the speakers are horrible (no tweeters). Cold air vents provide warm air due to design. Front seats don't retract all the way back. Rear seats don't have head rests. No auto dimming rearview mirror. Very large turning radius.

I pull a 3 horse trailer weekly, fully loaded. The engine response, comfort, giddyup and go that this Diesel powerstroke has is incredible. I now have no problems pulling onto the highway and passing on the highway is easy. I do my own servicing and it is easier than I expected. The roomy interior and comfortable seats are enjoyed by my family of five. The dealership was easy to work with which I did mostly over the internet. No pushing by the sales person, Dennis Frizzell and the service department when I have spoken with them is very friendly, and are more than eager to help even after the sale.

285 tires vs the 265 that come with it. A heavier duty trailer hitch. I had to upgrade from the one that came with it immediately to tow my trailer which had has a tongue weight of 840 lbs. With this size of truck, should be with the easy lift at least 1000lb hitch.

This truck is not all that big I drive the big boys down the highway so this is small. Got the v10 gas mileage not great but hell I didn't it for gas mileage. Not one problem. Will haul anything. Lariat more comfort than my couch.

The ford f-series just stands above all other trucks because its just the most fun to ride and can haul almost anything you can put on it. Try your best to look for a better truck, but there's nothing better at the moment.
