Review

I own a '03 7.3L powerstroke, at the lake the transmission went out with only 52,000 miles on it. I took it to the dealer figuring the 100,000 mi powertrain warranty would cover it, it didn't. $ 4,000 later and the new transmission (refurbished I add) has a better warranty than the origional one. I'm dissapointed when I pull 14000K worth of equipment. I've heard wonderful things but haven't experienced the greatness of the 7.3L. Soon trade for a new twin turbo F-350 or a Dodge Cummins

Favorite Features

Mileage for such a heavy truck. Pulling light trailers is easy, you don't know it's there. 4WD works wonderfully in any condition. Beat the heck out of it and it'll keep going. Great work truck.

Suggested Improvements

Braking (very hard on truck), origional transmission needs to be able to handle more than 30,000 miles before warranty ends. $110 oil changes. $175 fillups (not Ford's fault.) window motor makes noises when rolling down.

My truck has been in the shop 21 times, 12 loaner cars, 5 repeats from local dealership and two tow trucks. Ford customer service is just at bad. This is the worst truck ford has ever made. Buy anything but the 6.0 Ford. Should this qualify for a lemon? Ford thinks not. Be careful and look for something else.

Favorite Features

Truck looks are fare.

Suggested Improvements

Different engine, tranny. Ford should make it right for there customers who have purchased these trucks. Ford should re struture there customer service and back up Ford tuff not Ford Joke.

Writing this 4 years into ownership, I have to say I can't believe Ford can build such an outstanding product. My truck has been flawless - has never needed anything other than routine maintenance... which after 4 years has totaled around $1000.00.

Favorite Features

Build/Engine/Body quality. Great seats that make long journeys a joy... great pulling capabilities. Interior space is very spacious and functional. Sweet styling... which I like better than the 2008 models.

Suggested Improvements

Wish a sunroof would of been available in the extended cab... and that's it. Otherwise this truck rocks!

Review

I like the power of the 6.0 diesel but the turbo and injector were replaced under warranty. The most annoying problem is the steering wobble. Truck wanders from side to side on the straight aways. If anyone has any ideas on a solution for this I would love to know. So far this is my 1st F250 for my business fleet and it will probably be the last.

Favorite Features

Great power and towing ability.

Suggested Improvements

Poor steering design and poor OEM tires.

I bought the truck 2 weeks ago. I have been a Chevy at heart (boy did I hear it) and this truck is great. The fuel tank is my only complaint as it is small (27 gallons) at 14.5 mpg around town. Plenty of torque around town and plenty of horsepower for the highway. Haven't used the 4x4 yet, but I will soon! =) Stop looking and buy it. I got the 7.3l and am glad I did.

Favorite Features

7.3l turbo diesel!

Suggested Improvements

Bigger fuel tank.

My first crew cab, long bed, F-250. Recently had misfortune of a driver's side impact by a mini van doing better than 60. I was spun and the driver's door came into the seat. I walked away with some bruises, that's all. I'm ordering a 2006 just like the 2003. No additions or subtractions. Excellent built, excellent ride and performance.

Favorite Features

Full Frame under it!

Suggested Improvements

As a previous submitter, heater on lower spot mirrors.

Review

7.3 liter diesel with 122,000 trouble free miles and it still looks and runs like new. This truck still has its original rotors and pads which aren't even half worn out! 18 mpg at the speed limit with the comfort of a car and out of this world torque. Pulled an 8,000 lb boat coast to coast without breaking a sweat. Torque converter could lockup a little tighter. 4WD is there when you need it.

Favorite Features

Heated leather captains chairs.

Suggested Improvements

The rear seat design for the extended cab changed to a fold up configuration for 2003. I would have preferred one that folds down to a shelf you can lay on.

Review

Bought the truck a few weeks ago and I LOVE it! Traded in a F-150 with the 4.2L V6 for a F-250 with 5.4L V8. Maybe a little underpowered for such a big truck but it is still very fun to drive. Fuel mileage is ok but not the greatest, probably the only reason I like having the V8 instead of the V10. Go with a diesel even though it costs a lot more.

Favorite Features

Interior superior to Dodge or Chevy. Power drivers seat makes for a comfortable drive, even in a big truck. So big and fun to drive, you'll feel like the king of the road.

Suggested Improvements

No V8 in the F-250 series. A little underpowered. Make the diesel a little more affordable.

Review

My 2004 PSD F-250 has been in repair for 50% of the time with transmission and accelerator control problems, including an accident caused by loss of accelerator control. It has had a new wiring harness, two new computers, a rebuilt transmission, new accelerator pedal, engine sleeve, and other issues, and now needs a new transmission that Ford says will take 70 days to deliver. My F-250 SD has been a nightmare to own, and Ford has been virtually non-responsive to my complaints. Their customer interface stinks, to but it nicely. I almost never tow with this truck, never take it off road, and never abuse it, yet the transmission failed three times. Once minor, twice major.

Favorite Features

Quiet, nice interior, lots of power.

Suggested Improvements

Better customer service. Better transmissions. Better parts availability. Get rid of electronic accelerator pedal and go back to a reliable cable system.

Review

This is my third Ford truck and they just keep getting better. The only regret that I have is that I did not buy one with the V-10 or diesel, instead of the 5.4 V-8. It runs great until you tow a trailer with it. Then you have to disable the overdrive and suffer the loss of gas mileage. I get about 13 in town and 16 highway, empty, but only about 9 towing our small 21' camper. My friend's F-350 with 7.3L gets over 15mpg towing nearly anything. I feel a 2005 diesel and Tow Command in my near future ! Ford Credit, here I come again!

Favorite Features

Interior quality much superior to Dodge or Chevy 2500 series trucks. Seems able to perform any task. Looks great! mine is Black/Silver accent/Aluminum wheels/black tonneau cover/tinted glass all the way around/white letter Pirelli's. I even get "nice truck" from drivers of other brands.

Suggested Improvements

Don't offer the 5.4 in a truck this big. A V-10 should be standard and the 6.0L diesel optional. Tighten up the steering response a little. It feels as though the front steering is connected to the steering wheel with a big rubber band. My F150 was much more responsive and easier to drive.
