I apologize in advance for this being lengthy, but I don't know how else to say everything involved here! I have a 2006 F150 w/ the 4.6L V8. I have an intermittent starting problem, among others. we too have a new F150 STX bought in August 08. Since then it has been in the shop for almost a month. It has had 14 new tires of different brands, new rotors, new drive shaft, and no difference. The Ford engineer said it was not fixable to our service manager. Then he told the Division person it was in an "acceptable" range. How is it acceptable when at high speeds it shakes ... what was the deal with it..?? i have a 06 that is doing the same thing... it has done it twice at highway speeds and twice in low speeds... switched to 4wheel high and noise goes away... just had this truck about 6 weeks now... Read More...

endlessmoto, I turned in my 2006 f150 xlt supercrew in may. I feel the tundra is a much better truck. The engine blows away the ford 5.4 plus I'm getting close to 17 mpg mountain roads and 19mpg on the interstate. Dittoclown, Check my 7-26-08 post about the vibration in all 5.4 Triton engines from1300 to 1800 rpms when revving in park or driving at 70mph in o.d. It is a common problem in all 5.4 Triton engines from 2005 ,06,07, & 08 per ford Engineer. Why hasnt been diagnosed!!! I am going to the Ca. I too have an 06 f150 4x4 super crew. I have 30 k on it and i have the ex warrente 75k, I have a hard shift to 2nd gear also a loud vibration comes from the tranny when under exceleration on top of that i recently towed a 2k lb trailer 200 mile and the tranny shook so hard i thought it was going to die on the side of the road.
