Ford F150 Lariat Supercrew 4WD
Vehicle
2005 Ford F-150 4dr SuperCrew Lariat 4WD Styleside 5.5 ft. SB (5.4L 8cyl 4A)
Review
Great truck. Drives great on the highway and fantastic for moving the kids around. Pulls loaded trailer with ease at highway speeds. 4WD system works good. I prefer the part time on the fly system. The leather seats are nice as well as the memory seat positions and the movable pedals. Highway feel is more like a luxury car than a truck, but it definitely is a truck when you need it. This thing is a work horse.
Favorite Features
Memory seats, center shifter, heated mirrors and seats, and towing ability.
Suggested Improvements
Rear looking camera or sensing unit for backing up.

Review
Quiet, smooth ride, safe, reliable. As always, it is a Ford truck after all. This is why they are #1. The 4.6L in the 4x4 is not a speed demon, it'll get there though. It is a great pulling truck, can handle heavy loads with ease. Last but not least you gotta admit, it is a pretty truck!
Favorite Features
The body style of the truck is my favorite, 05-06 style of fog lights are favs too. I added Pirelli 20" tires and nice chrome wheels, Alpine system, Sirius satellite radio, Mac Mini Computer a touch screen monitor, Lund Bed Cover. Now the truck rocks! Next to change will be the seat fabric.
Suggested Improvements
Blue or red lighting on the instrument cluster, green is old school. Interior fabric is about the worst (light gray in a truck? gonna get stained) drop of water on it and it is stained. The factory radio w/ 6 cd is crappy. Skips since day 1. This was the first item I ripped out of the truck

Far too many electrical problems
Vehicle
2005 Ford F-150 2dr Regular Cab STX Rwd Flareside 6.5 ft. SB (4.2L 6cyl 4A)
Review
The truck has had far too many electrical problems. In 145000 miles it has had three alternators, two batteries, seven light bulbs and five sensors replaced. All after the 36,000 mile warranty. Now it is having ABS problems that I have estimates of from $300 to $2,500 to repair. Front brakes are very expensive to replace, as are most other items dealing with suspension, that should not be. Front bearing are over $200 and cannot be repacked, they need to be replaced. Overall, very happy with the ride, handling and comfort, but the electrical issues are really a problem. Never know if I will really get where I am going or not.
Favorite Features
Looks of body style, interior and comfort.
Suggested Improvements
Ford really needs to look at electrical, and release the info for ABS to others than just dealers that cannot figure out a problem anyway.

Just Another Truck
Vehicle
2005 Ford F-150 4dr SuperCrew Lariat Rwd Styleside 5.5 ft. SB (5.4L 8cyl 4A)
Review
This is my fourth F-150. Compared to my others, this vehicle has light doors, tailgate, and hood. The ride is rough with the 20" tires.
Favorite Features
I've compared this vehicle side-by-side with all the other full-size trucks. Nothing compares with its inside and outside styling.
Suggested Improvements
Offer truck with power retracting mirrors. Garage doors are 9' 10" or so and vehicle is too wide, without grabbing and turning in a mirror. Get back to "Ford Tough"

Great for towing a twenty eight foot camper. Very agile for such a large vehicle. The triton 5.4 v8 is a great engine.
Favorite Features
On the fly four wheel drive, body style looks great.
Suggested Improvements
Better design for the spark plugs, they tend to break off in the head of the engine.

Lots of room, beautiful interior 2-tone design with faux-wood panel and brushed aluminum accents, chrome stick shift for the automatic tranny. Its just a fun machine. I have a DVD system and a huge back seat for all the kids to watch movies or just zone out, and with the wireless earphones I don't have to listen to their movies. I can plug my Ipod to the DVD accessory panel, and listen thru the radio. The sound system includes a subwoofer. And when I drive, I be truckin through traffic near the top of the food chain! The 4WD is great for snowy weather.
Favorite Features
The huge amounts of interior room, the pretty interior design, the tawny colored leather seats, the smooth ride when you are pulling a load or have the bed loaded.
Suggested Improvements
Two things: the lever to adjust the steering wheel has come off twice, the dealer had to re-install it. Second, the "normal" knocking noise that the engine makes when its warm is a nuisance, it sounds like a diesel sometimes. Dealer swears its normal, Ford sites say the same.

Have had a lot of problems with the drive train on this vehicle. Rear end problems started at around 13,000 miles. Had 2 rear end rebuilds on this truck. Engine problems began around 60,000 miles. Had cam problems. Cam eventually broke at 85,000 miles. Apparently a problem with this model Ford. Ford has not offerd to help repair.
Favorite Features
Intererior is made of quality materials. Drive is very comfortable.
Suggested Improvements
Extend warranty on drive train to match that of Dodge. 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty is needed on this vehicle.

Best looking truck on the road. Probably the worst truck to tow with I've ever owned. Very dissappointed. I can tell when I have a dirt bike in the bed while driving. Forget pulling a boat or trailer, it's horrible.
Favorite Features
None
Suggested Improvements
Better mileage, more power, better towing.

This is the first American vehicle I have bought since US vehicle quality went down the tubes in the early 80's. I drive my truck on road and off, highway and local, through extremely bad weather (hurricanes) and I have not had a single problem with this truck. I've hauled lumber in the bed, and pulled single axle trailers with this truck, and it has been great. The sunroof and 6 CD changer has been great, the heated seats are fantastic, and the AC works fine in our 100+ degree summers here. Ford just sent me a letter extending the coverage on the fuel injectors for 10 years....but I have not had any problems. I use premium gas and get oil and tires serviced on time. This is a great truck
Favorite Features
The ride is as quiet as my 'Benz, and the truck behaves really well on very wet roads. The interior is perfectly comfortable for my 6'2" 220 lb frame, and the cruise control and steering wheel controls make long distance drives a pleasure. I get 15 to 16 mpg around town, 17 to 19 on the highway.
Suggested Improvements
Lift back seats 1/2" and mold a storage bin under the seats. I store lots of stuff under my back seats, but would like a built in bin to keep it organized. Put metal on top of tailgate to resist lumber scratches on top of short bed tailgate when hauling 8' 2x4s.
