2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4dr SuperCab XLT 2WD SB (5.4L 8cyl 6M)
7.3 litre diesel w/6-speed manual. The
high pressure oil pumped leaked and
needed to be replaced. The clutch
master cylinder failed. The pass.
window rattled when down. The tailgate
lock, locks automatically. After the
autopump sensor stops the flow of fuel
to the tank, you can slowly pump
another 6 gallons in the tank. The
front rotors needed to be replaced or
turned every 5,000 miles due to
warping. This is a chronic and known
problem with these vehicles. Worst of
all there is EXCESSIVE
driveline lash in the rear
end/transmission/transfer case. It is
VERY noticable between shifts and upon
moderate acceleration. I wouldn't buy
another Ford pickup.
Engine. Pulls heavy loads well. Cruise
control is great. Can go 600 miles on
a tank of fuel (about 30 gallons).
100,000 mile engine warranty. It's
HUGE and gets MAJOR respect/fear on
the road (no one honks at me when I
drive like an ass!) Cavernous
Tighten up the manufacturing
tolerances in the driveline! Recall
and redesign the front rotors!
Interior design is boring.
