2010 Ford F-150 Platinum 4dr SuperCrew 4WD Styleside 5.5 ft. SB (5.4L 8cyl 6A)
Review
It's been 7 month and 13k miles and so far the truck is like new. Fit and finish is well done, but for a premium truck the Ford engineers left out some basics.
Favorite Features
20 in rims are a nice touch. Very polished look, but do rub the fender on bumpy cornering
Overall a nice truck. Don't think I'll change anytime soon. The retractable step is a very nice feature that hopefully won't get copied. This would be nice on F250's or 350's. Might need to move up buy really like that feature not available on other model Ford trucks. Cab is very room and comfortable, and towing is pretty good (25 ft Cobalt with no problem).
Suggested Improvements
Platinum package lacks telescopic steering wheel, and at least the front door windows should be one touch. Yes, it works for the Divers door DOWN but no UP (nothing for passengers - bummer). Really Ford Engineers Should this not be part of a basic package...2000 BMW, 2003 Nissan Pathfinder, Benz, VW all have it. 2010 Ford PLATINUM missed the mark. Paying 45K it's ok to add another 100 dollars for this feature. Also, the turn signal change lane (3 bursts) is not included either. 2007 Dodge Ram has it. 20 inch rims and tires are nice but rub on tight bumpy turns. Tires started feathering and dealer said they were not really good tires, so Michelins will be installed as soon as these wear out.
Our first real truck. My wife and I purchased this Ford F-150 Platinum from a Ford dealership. It was pre-owned by first owner and had original 33,372 miles. This truck is wonderful and I agree the windows should have better motion adjustments. The fuel economy could be better, too.
Ford has created the "Eco-Boost" for 2013, down sizing the power plant from the 5.4L V8 to the "Eco-Boost" V6 twin turbo engine.
Ours came with added features; heavier towing package, rear bed "Gator Protection", clear protective film trim front to rear, a two inch lift package (2" front with air stabilization rear), after market 20 inch wheels with 305 55 R20 BF Goodrich TA LT tires. We want to change the tires to Michelin LTX M/S 2 light truck tires for better wear and a smoother ride.
We absolutely love this truck. It is very pleasant to drive not discounting the navigation and sound systems. The over all comfort in heat or cold is outstanding. Memory sets for seats (cooling heating and ride position), outside mirrors and fuel/brake pedals are wonderful. Microsoft Sync covering GPS and hands free phone use. So many electronic features, one has to read and play with the settings.
Nice acceleration and transmission operation. Love the safety backup camera/sensor systems, too.
One might look at the Ford trucks for 2013. Not a bad vehicle.
