Prior to the 05 Superduty, Ford had 3 truck frames. F-150, F-250/350 and F-450/550. Obviously this was expensive so for 2005, they put the F-250/350 on the F-450/550 frame with lower rated springs and axles. Hence the increase in towing capacity. Mark.

Well, sorry to hear about your bad experience. At this point it is safe to state that Ford has no clue what is wrong with your truck. All those F-150 owners out there be patient... The vibration problem or harmonics can be addressed through your dealership and finally with Ford Engineers and representatives. Hi volatile1. Ford Credit's lease program on the F-Series traditionally had not been very impressive. The 2005 F-150 is no exception to this, its current lease program stinks. If I was in the market for this truck, I personally would probably finance it at Ford's Employee Price through Ford Credit at 4.9% for 5 years + a $1,000 bonus. If you were to lease a 2005 F-150 SuperCab Lariat 2WD through ... Read More
Car_man, Is it worth it to lease a 2005 F-150 in general? I have not heard anything great about Ford motor credit and leasing or the trucks residual. I have to make a decision by october 1rst. They just extended the family plan. Any Idea what the residual and money factor would be on a 2005 f-150 Lariat 2WD should run on a 36 month lease? Does an outside lease company ... Read More
Got the VIBES? Seventeen miles and 1 day old, my 2004 F150 was being taken back to the dealer. First day vibrations, "its from being tied down on the transport truck, it's work out". Wheels rotated and Balanced, truck the three days. Week two, second trip to dealer 45 miles away, with stalling and vibration is still there: the tires needed rotating and balancing a second tine, and they can't fix ... Read More
I have an 04 f150 crew. I was reading the discussion about gas mileage on edmunds and just had to respond to this one. I've seen the programers before, didn't think that much about them, in terms of a considerable increase in mileage. What type of programmer did you use, where did you get it and what did it cost you. My 5.4 is getting me just under 15 in mixed ... Read More
I have a 2005 FX4 with the same problem. It is not a vibration, but severe shaking. I just got home from the dealer and they are ordering a part for the steering. They had a truck in recently with the same problem and think they fixed it. They couldn't tell me exactly what the part was as their computer system was down and they needed to look up the truck ... Annoying is the operative word. Every time I get in this truck, I think about how much I paid to be this frustrated. Because they process these disputes using apparently, not so smart individuals, Ford and BBB both acknowledged the drive train problem in their communications. Attorney says they have shot themselves in the foot. It is going to cost me about $4000 temporarily, collectable from Ford along with all other ... Read More
I have a 2004 F150 Off Road...It too has a similar problem....The vibration is felt through the floorboards and seems to be from the chassis (front) itself. It is slight and has been on and off for the year I have had this truck. It does not affect handling, or anything else and only lasts for a few minuites before it goes away...Of course, ford service can find nothing wrong, and ... Read More
To all regarding 04/05 F-150 drive train clunk and persistent vibrations. 3-4 months back I read all the problems with drive train and vibrations experienced by others. Also, after many attempts by my dealer to correct problems proven uncorrectable, I have come to the following conclusions on the aforementioned two problems. The drive train slack, slip and clunk appears to be in all of the F-150’s and the dealers will not ... Read More
We bought a 2004 Ford F150 FX4 in Nov of 04. We experienced a vibration on the test drive but we were told it was the tires. We have since been experiencing clunking and hesitation along with the vibration becoming worse. We have tried to get out of our lease but the dealership in Nanaimo BC, Canada has made it impossible to do. They have had the truck in for approx ... Read More
Yep I had the same problem ,so far they have replaced the clutch plates and rack and pinon twice, replaced all 4 rotors, and i still get a little vibration , I think the timing might be off a degree or two. ford said everything checks out ok , yea right,
No, no yet. I still think that it has to do with the lack of a fan motor for the A/C. Pepboy sells an aftermarket kit to install and I may try it. The dealer says that there is nothing wrong and we are just having a bad summer with hotter temperatures, they are full of ^^&*^&*. All this new car era that we old timers are experimenting is bad because ... Read More
I will not go 1 year trying to fix this problem like you have. I have had my 2005 Lariat at the dealership for repair 3 times and a total of 15 days since I picked it up 34 days ago. They have balanced the tires, scoped the engine, changed the drive shaft and installed shims. They were to call Ford engineering today. I told Ford customer service this morning that ... Read More
I have a 2004 F-150 with the same problem (Virbations). In fact it is in shop now and the dealer I bought it from has taken it to another dealer to see if they might fix it. This is the 6th time it has been in for that. I have 4875 miles on it, and have been driveing it since Oct. 11, 2004. They change Tires, Drive Shaft, Virbation thing on ... Read More
I got the same vibration problem, I've taken the truck back to The Dealer to index the tires, balance, and alighment, nothing worked, I sugested tire change and Then i was told that they already had two trucks with the same problem, but told me Ford F150 has tire problem, or the other mechanic said that the Stering wheel is to sensitive to its new frame (absurd) I did not pay 40 000 ... I picked up my F150 two weeks ago. After 70 miles on the road I realized I had problems. There are two problems: 1. a constant vibration like I am driving over a cobblestone road not matter at what speed. 2. if I accelerate between 55-60 mph, it bogs down and vibrates almost like a motor mount is lose. I returned my truck for repairs three days after I drove it ... Read More
My biz partner bought a 2005 F250 4x4 Super cab 4 months ago. He has had it to the dealer twice to correct the loss of control and vibration in the front end when going down a dirt road at 30 to 40 mph. He also just about lost it on the highway at 65mph and nearly swerved off the road. Jacked it up and got the wheels off the ground ... Read More
My air conditioner does not cool properly. This was my first complaint when I bought the truck and they took it for service but nothing changed. The A/C cools down after 10 to 15 minutes on the Hwy. but is not cold like any other car I have owned before. I took a look at the condenser coils in the hood and the condenser is the same size as the engine ... Read More
