Review of the 2005 Ford F-150

  • A class leader when it comes to ride and handling, the F-150 is dragged down by its excessive weight and lack of key safety features.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, the most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.

  • Cons

Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

  • What's New for 2005

New packages this year include a Work Truck Group with argent bumpers and a vinyl bench seat, and a King Ranch Group with exclusive interior and exterior trim. A 4.2-liter V6 has been added as the base engine, along with a five-speed manual transmission.

Vehicle: 2005 Ford F-150 2dr Regular Cab STX 4WD Styleside 6.5 ft. SB (4.6L 8cyl 4A)

Quiet, smooth ride, safe, reliable. As always, it is a Ford truck after all. This is why they are #1. The 4.6L in the 4x4 is not a speed demon, it'll get there though. It is a great pulling truck, can handle heavy loads with ease. Last but not least you gotta admit, it is a pretty truck!

Great truck

Vehicle: 2005 Ford F-150 2dr Regular Cab STX 4WD Styleside 6.5 ft. SB (4.6L 8cyl 4A)

Bought the truck a year ago, STX model with no back seat or carpet. Surprisingly, plenty of room with 40/20/40 split. Drove the truck 65000 miles in one year, not a single problem, just maintenance and brakes. Although I do get annoyed with front brake dust on wheels. 4WD works great in snow, nice turning and ride for 4.6 V8. towed 2 cords wood, struggled very little. Nice roomy bed, well designed interior. Seats do stain very easily, I recommend covering them as soon as you buy the truck.

Great truck!

Vehicle: 2005 Ford F-150 2dr Regular Cab STX 4WD Styleside 6.5 ft. SB (4.6L 8cyl 4A)

Over all the truck is fantastic, offering a lot of room and plenty of options. It is with out a doubt the best ride I've ever gotten out of a truck. I do think that Ford could have gotten a lot more out of that 4.6L V8 than they did. Specs rate it at around 230 HP, which I found surprising. But it still has plenty of power for every day driving and hauling needs. Fuel economy could be better, but with a large v-8 like that it actually performs really well in that department. I have gotten 20 MPG for highway use and average between 12-15 for city.

I love my truck, not good with power, do not like the price I paid for a pick up with no carpet and cover on seats. I had to upgrade to power windows/doors...they did pay that. But my sticker said $33,000 - far from what I see it should be. I did get it for $28,000 but looks like I paid way too much....again! But I do love it!

I love my truck

Vehicle: 2005 Ford F-150 2dr Regular Cab STX 4WD Styleside 6.5 ft. SB (4.6L 8cyl 4A)

Over all I really enjoy driving my F150. It has a very short turning radius which makes it a breeze in the parking lot or tight turns. It has excellent acceleration and very comfortable seats. Also the quarter windows make pulling out into traffic easy with the extra view.

This vehicle is second to none with its ability to tow, haul, or just plain get after it. The new body style makes this truck the most attractive in its class; itÂ’s just as nice on the inside as it is the outside. The driver friendly cab puts everything within comfortable reach from the speed controls on the steering wheel, to the radio, four cup holders, and dashboard storage space. An extremely smooth ride and handling will make you forget you are driving a truck. I highly recommend buying this truck for work or play (I use mine for both). I couldn't be more satisfied. Thanks ford for another great product.
