2013 Ford Explorer 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Purchased vehicle in Fort Myers FL and had accumulated less than 400 miles on same before undertaking our trek to extreme Northern NY... the car performed very well and the mileage improved as we drove. Ride comfort and seating is superior. The car has 302a pkg, so all of the toys and features apply...forward facing radar is truly impressive in high speed traffic situations. The blind spot detection works very well and the lane minder too, had to play some to find out if it worked. Had one incident with the closing rate detection on the radar as a panic situation occured in front of me, the heads up display and braking assist performed as they were designed, added to my feeling of safety

Favorite Features

seating, ride comfort, nav system is much better than on 2007 Mtneer, weather map is really neat when weather is surrounding you or you're driving into it, traffic info and detours a plus, the 6 speed transmission performs very well and the retard (holdback) on steep downhill grades is a nice feature in some of the revenue areas we travel through, the cruise will set @25mph a +++, speed limit postings, remote start is nice on hot days so you don't have to get into a furnace (light grey interior, blk dash no reflection in windshield,) backup camera with projected track when wheel is turned is very accurate, rear airbag sbelts, even fitting margins on doors and panels, chngbl info display

Suggested Improvements

Hankook tires are noisey and a little hard riding overpowering the phone when driving at high speed. Sony sound system requires some serious tinkering to achieve quality, is no Bose. Save your money before you buy the cargo shade, it looks and fits like a body bag, a real looser. The prop up brace for the hood is a real disappointment compared to the class of the rest of the vehicle. A 4 or 5 degree downward slope on the lower rear lifgate opening would allow water and accumulations to run off rather than pool. My reliability rating is a guess at best as I have less than 3000 miles on the vehicle.
