Re: 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Lease [Car_man]

thanks car_man, I have actually been a huge audi fan last few years and just got my second a4 in february - got a good deal on 2009 model thanks to your info on this message board. Had 2006 model before that but can definitely see how I threw you off :-). I'm doing a bit of car shopping for my in-laws who lease cars for their business so they don't really have the buy option ... Read More...

Ford Explorer AC and Heater Problems

AC Controls Not Working After Installing Radio

I have a 2006 Ford Explorer XLT V6. A week ago, I installed a new stereo head unit into the vehicle. I reconnected all the climate controls wires back into the slots. The illumination works on each of the manual dials, but when you switch the activation dial on the right to one of the fan blowing options, I get nothing. I looked at the fuses, but none of them seem blown. ... Read More...

Ford Explorer Mercury Mountaineer Real World MPG

'06 to '10 Increase in EPA Mileage Ratings

Anybody know how Ford has increased the mileage of the Explorer from 2006 to now? I just bought a used '06 V8 that is EPA rated at 19 hwy (according to the 2008 method) but the '10 model is rated at 21 hwy. I just wondered if I can make any of the changes Ford must have in later model years to achieve those higher numbers. Read More...

Ford Explorer Gas Gauge

Gas Gauge works/doesn't work & "check engine" lights are on.

I have a 2004 Ford Explorer with 48537 miles in it. I purchased it May 2006 and never had problems with it until now. I filled up my tank last Friday, 5/22/2009. The next day, Saturday, I drove to the grocery store and noticed that my "check gage" red light was on and my gas gauge was on empty. I obviously have plenty of gas so running out of gas was not an issue. As I headed ... Read More...

Ford Explorer Electrical Problems

Re: 2006 Ford Explorer Fuse Panel [jonesdori]

Glad I could help. I don't think anyone should have to bend like that. I must have a blown fuse in my fuse panel under the hood if my front port isn't working. Glad to hear that you use them both. Read More...

Re: 2006 Ford Explorer Fuse Panel [mlsimon]

Hi, Thanks to your help I found it, it was a bit obscured because I have my trailer electric brakes in that area. I'm getting too old to bend like that. As to the power ports, I use both of my ports to charge my cell phones and I have no problems. Again, thanks for your response. Dick Jones Read More...

Re: 2006 Ford Explorer Fuse Panel [jonesdori]

I felt like an idiot too. I just purchased my 06 Explorer and looked for the panel 3 times before I finally found it. Look up under the dash of the driver's side and it is closer to the door. The fuse panel cover is about 2" x 5". It is very hard to spot, but once you see it, you won't believe you missed it. Hey, do you know if I can use my cigar lighter as a power port? The manual ...
