Regarding your explorer, I had a 2001 explorer sport trac with same symptoms, the problems I had, happened more on rainy, humid days, or on mornings with a high dew point. Interesting on the new tires. Makes sense, as my 2006 Explorer with 4WD needed a new tire (picked up a nail in the sidewall). The tire shop said I should get a new set (about ready anyhow), as the newer 4WD system with"automatic" settings can wear and begin to buck as the transfer case would think one wheel was slipping (like on snow) and try to engage the 4WD. Apparently the ... Read More

Really good question, but I don't think it did. I think the damage was done to that transmission by the initial fill, and rebuilding the valve body and reflashing was not sufficient to repair it. I am having the same problem. While driving at 40 MPH using cruise control, my truck stalled. Not sure what to do because it sounds like Ford is playing dumb with this subject. Any more info would be appreciated.
The part is about about $120 on most sites, and repairs start around $300. (yes, almost $200 in labor charges). Therefore, looks like the upped your price $65 so they could "give" you a 20% discount. So, not much of a deal. Most dealers accuse you of slamming the hatch, but the problem is a manufacturing defect. The panel is glued to the hatch glass. The 2 parts expand at different ... Read More
