My 2006 Explorer has only 45000 miles on it and I have trouble from day one with a jackrabbity throttle and when you step on the gas going up a hill or just speeding up it sounds like the transmission is going to fall on the ground. We drive a 2006 Explorer Limited with 140,000 kms on the clock. Recently we had the same problem with the brake pedal going right to the floor for a second or two before the brakes engaged. Most of the time this happened reversing out ... Read More
Today my rear passenger wheel fell off my 2006 explorer. This is the 3rd time this has happened! The 2nd time was right after I had new ball joints put on and the shop assumed responsibility for it. All of them cracked, Ford replaced them all under warranty until the warranty expired, the replacements all cracked too. Really good question, but I don't think it did. I think the damage was done to that transmission by the initial fill, and rebuilding the valve body and reflashing was not sufficient to repair it. That's just a theory, it could be they had a batch of bad transmissions that year from France (where they were built), and the fluid thing was incorrect, although it was pretty well documented at the ... I had a similar ticking noise on my 5.0L V8, 1999 Eddie Bauer (I also thought it was lifters, to the point of dis-assembling the oil cover and checking). Turned out to be an exhaust manifold leak. I am having the same problem. While driving at 40 MPH using cruise control, my truck stalled. Not sure what to do because it sounds like Ford is playing dumb with this subject. Any more info would be appreciated.
The part is about about $120 on most sites, and repairs start around $300. (yes, almost $200 in labor charges). Therefore, looks like the upped your price $65 so they could "give" you a 20% discount. So, not much of a deal. Most dealers accuse you of slamming the hatch, but the problem is a manufacturing defect. The panel is glued to the hatch glass. The 2 parts expand at different ... Read More
