The 2nd time was right after I had new ball joints put on and the shop assumed responsibility for it. The other 2 times there was no apparent reason? All of them cracked, Ford replaced them all under warranty until the warranty expired, the replacements all cracked too.     Really good question, but I don't think it did. I think the damage was done to that transmission by the initial fill, and rebuilding the valve body and reflashing was not sufficient to repair it.     That was checked and Ford shop did not think it was aleak. They called Ford and were told to replace the lifters on the passengers side...I have the 4.6 V8. Its for sure coming from the right side, and goes away when the engine warms up. It will come and go...crazy

    I know this is probably dumb to ask, but have you checked the level of your radiator fluid. I have a 2003 Dodge Ram and the radiator developed a leak, and when the level of anti-freeze was low it would not blow hot air when stopped, and it would start to overheat. So check that.

    I have a 2006 with suede and had no problems cleaning them (even when I got grease on them). I like them because they are cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

    Thanks Howard, I have contacted a lemon law attorney who thinks we have a good case. I just need to get back to CA in one piece. I am horrified at Ford messing me about for the last few months and looking at the lawsuits they are now settling over the rollover issue I am surprised that they are not more sensitive to this

    we did the lemon law with our 2006 limited v8-- they even replaced the transmission! Ford did step up and did the right thing... replaced our 2006 with a 2007 fully loaded... it was worth the wait and trouble.... my recommedation is document, document document!

    We had the program update as well on our 2006 Eddie Baur Explorer. Worked fine for a couple of weeks then back to the same jerking when the gears shift. We finally traded it in for a 2007 Edge which we love, so far.
