Re: 2005 Ford explorer transmission V.6 [doodleebug]

Check your vehicle with the dealership to make sure it has all the updated codes. Ford had significant problems with Explorer transmissions for several years and issued new codes that has to be reloaded. They also has to replace quite a few valve bodies on the trannies too. Read More...

Re: 2000 eddie bauer electrical question [blondbarnbratt]

I have a 2005 Ford Explorer Limited and although I wasn't in a carwash, I had the exact problem with my headlights and display console. I don't have a resolution yet but I did unplug my battery for a good 20 or so minutes (to have it tested) and when I plugged it back in, everything went back to normal. Jim Read More...

Explorer vs Pathfinder

Re: kasrhp [alman08]

I looked at Ford Explorer between buying my 2001 and 2005 pathfinders. I preferred the ride of the pathfinder, the looks etc. I am not a big fan of American cars. I find that the Pathfinder is friendly as far as being able to see out of it (rear esp) and it is a good fit (I'm a petite woman). Additionally, I drove an Acadia as a rental car while my car was getting body work ... Read More...

Ford Explorer Transmission Questions

Re: 2002, XLT [wpd029]

I have a 2005 Ford Explorer XLS and the transmission went out at 43,000 miles. Did not purchase the extended warranty because this was my second Ford Explorer (1998) and did not have any problems. The O/D light came on and called Ford dealership. They told me it was a transmission problem but did not have a mechanic on site as it was a Friday evening. I took it into an ... Read More...

Re: Piece of crap Explorer [jdevoigt]

Are you kidding...I got one myself but mine is a 2005 Explorer and the transmission went out at 42,000 miles. Not to mention my "leather" seats in the front begin to crack, my DVD player went out and had to replace (no I did not buy the $500 factory replacement), a bracket that holds my visor on the driver's side in place broke and the dealer doesn't sell that piece separately ...
