Ford Explorer 2002 Coolant Leak
Re: Ford Explorer 2002 Coolant Leak [steveav67]
Help....I am having the same problem with my 2001 Explorer AWD with 90,000 miles. Did you find out what was causing this problem and how to fix it? The dealer has run diagnostics and high pressure tests and found no leaks twice but I keep finding my coolant reserve empty. Can anyone help me? Read More...
Ford Explorer Engine and Diagnostics Problems
Im just a kid
I recently bought a used 2001 Ford explorer sport. For the first month or so its been doing great, and only had a few minor problems that were fixed. About a week or so ago ive been having some problems with my transmission. For example. I would start it up fine, take it down the road and after about a min or so of driving it wouldnt go anymore. You could press the gas and ... Read More...

01 Explorer dying
Hi all! New here. Got a couple things. 2001 Ford Explorer SOHC 4.0 V-6. 55K. Owned 1 1/2 yrs. One minor problem that we can live with (#1), and one that we can't (#2). We love the vehicle...we just don't want to die in it....or kill someone else because of it.... 1) Lift gate won't open & door ajar light on all of the time. Checked the latches (when I still could open it), ... Read More...
Re: kasrhp [alman08]
I looked at Ford Explorer between buying my 2001 and 2005 pathfinders. I preferred the ride of the pathfinder, the looks etc. I am not a big fan of American cars. I find that the Pathfinder is friendly as far as being able to see out of it (rear esp) and it is a good fit (I'm a petite woman). Additionally, I drove an Acadia as a rental car while my car was getting body work ... Read More...
Ford Explorer Sport Alarm system is going off for no reason.
Re: 2001 Explorer Sport Alarm system is going off for no reason. [sport624]
7 months ago, I asked this question... Edmunds has yet to answer my question, and I am certain I have not been alone in having this problem>>> My 2001 Explorer Sport's alarm system went off for no reason. I used my key-fob to turn it off but when I released the button it went right back on. This happened in a parking lot during the mid-day sun. This has never happened ... Read More...
2001 Explorer Sport Alarm system is going off for no reason.
Yesterday my 2001 Explorer Sport's alarm system went off for no reason. I used my key-fob to turn it off but when I released the button it went right back on. This happened in a parking lot during the mid-day sun. This has never happened before. I thought it was just a fluke, but this morning - EARLY THIS MORNING - at 3:49 AM EST my alarm woke me from a sound sleep - as it ... Read More...

Re: Water in my oil [rabbitm32]
I've owned 4 Explorers since 1990. My latest, and last, died the other day while my wife was driving with my son in the car. With no warning while making a turn it just shut down. The mechanic said a seal in the engine block failed, allowing coolant to flood the engine which caused major engine damage. The dealer gave me a quote of $4800 to replace the engine. Ford has ... Ford Explorer Transmission Questions
Excellent dealer service, problem gone!
My 2006 Explorer V8 has exhibited some slight 1-2 upshift and downshift problems since it was new, but they were too slight for me to botehr taking it in for service. I now have 34,600 miles on it, and the problem (occasionally feeling like being hit from behind on some stops, occasional jerky take-off from stops) had worsened, so I took it to Santa Margarita Ford. ... Re: Dashboard bulb@Grinding Noise from the Rear [electricdesign]
Wow. Thanks E.D. I'm not sure I want to tackle that. This is what I found on WikiAnswers: Q. How do you replace the lights in the dash of 1991 through 2001 Ford Explorer all models? A. Remove the screws from the top of the instrument panel. Set the parking brake and pull the shift lever down to improve access. Rotate the instrument panel to gain access to the back. The ...
