Great little automatic 4x4 SUV

Bought in 2003 w/60000 miles on it. Now has 120,000 and still runs like new with only regular maintenance. We have family that live in the Sierra's at the end of a dirt and gravel road. This little 4x4 always makes it up there no problem with all-season tires; mud, snow, whatever. I added a class 3 bolt-on 4 point hitch receiver and it tows a 3500lb boat/trailer no problem. Just had dings removed and repainted same dark teal metallic and it looks like MONEY!

The drive is really good and very comfortable, tons of space in the back especially with the seats down. Winter is a joke for for it. Interior is nothing special. exterior looks like a regular suv. Gas on it is so so. Power on it is just beast,

Too many Problems

I am the original owner and bought in March 2000. Only has 60,000 and had to rebuild transmission at 50,000. The key lock does not always unlock tailgate. Had the hood and top repainted (at Ford Dealer) three times due to acid rain (poor paint). My other cars not had the problem. Has many squeaks and noises. I have vehicle cleaned and waxed regularly and the back bumper is rusted. I would not buy a Ford again.

For the most part a good SUV. Have had trouble with the interior. The arm rest broke off and the driver side seat is sagging from getting in and out. The 4 wheel drive will go through anything, the best i've seen. Been a couple recalls with the recent having to disconnect the cruise control due to fire hazard. Frustrating trying to fit stuff in small vehicle but it is a 2 door sport

Great Truck

Bought this truck in 2002, had about 19k miles on it. This was the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Started ever time, ran smooth, lots of torque. Mileage was about 18mpg and the ride was rough, but it's a truck. This truck never had any major problems, kept truck for 7 years and was very happy with it. Sold it with 120,000 miles, still had the original tires, which were still not ready to be replaced.

I have over 140K mile bought the vehicle with only 6K. Bumpy rode but not a bad vehicle at all. Just out grown. Bought the vehicle when it was only my son and I now I'm married with additional 2 kids. Need more room now. ***Not a family car*** But dependable and reliable. Just the normal maintenance needed so far.

I love my explorer, i had a little tranny trouble but it cleared up on its own the rear end went out at 140,000 miles but went to my local junk yard and picked up a posi trac rear out of an older modle sport for 60 bucks and back on the road.the posi rear was the best mod i made along with 31x10x15 on 15x10 aluminum wheels which made it wider and handles like a car, the gas milage is great for an suv i average 19 city and 21 hwy which is great considering i have a 95 taurus that gets the same mpg.

I bought this truck as a certified 5 year ago with 15K miles. I now have 78K miles, and have not had any major repairs. 1 fuel sensor recall, and replaced the rear pinion seal. I'm only on my second set of tires, and I get about 20-24 MPG. (depending on how I drive) it handles very well in the winter, and can take just about anything you through at it. It is a perfect car for younger drivers

Nice Mode of Transportation

Bought the Ford out of need since my last car was a lemon. So far, the Explorer Sport has been very good to me. Ga mileage is not good but then again, I knew this would be the case because of the type of vehicle. No major repairs only routine maintenance which includes: engine, axle, and transmission oil changes. Radiator flushing, tire rotation, and brake service. All this is done at a Ford dealership as for these types of cars, it's important to follow the manufacturer maintenance which is available from Ford or on your owner's manual. And NEVER take a turn while driving fast. There are several warning decals on the Explorer Sport's.

Ford exploder?

Great truck amazing for winter! Very hard to get stuck hard corp truck off roading. Tight seating not good with kids perfect if your single. Don't trust the dealerships. I had no brakes or dash lights or muffler. O2 sensors are pricey and the truck is a gas pig for sure! But little fix on it had it a year and had to repair dealer goofs. Good by if weather turns fast.
