2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Limited 4dr Crew Cab w/Adrenalin Package (4.6L 8cyl 6A)
Review
Great Colorado Red color. Very eye- catching Adrenalin package. Love the 20" tires and special rims. The tonneau cover is very nice, convenient and weatherproof. AWD worked flawlessly in ice and snow in Ohio ice storm. V8 towed mother-in-law's car from Michigan to Florida without breaking a sweat. Fit and finish are beautiful. Sound system is excellent, as is Sync hands-free. Really great software on the Sync. Stupid flaws include: Truck bed storage compartment in bad location and useless when tonneau cover is in place; cannot get telescoping steering wheel; no grab handle on driver's door; marginal inside storage; no directional signals in sideview mirrors. Ford can be proud of this.
Favorite Features
Tonneau cover, Sync, AWD, 292 HP V8 are impressive and work well. Seats are very comfortable; interior well designed. Tows like a bigger truck. Handles like a sports car.
Suggested Improvements
Move in-bed storage compartment to rear of truck bed. Offer telescoping steering wheel. Gas mileage only adequate. Got 19 mpg in normal driving, 14 mpg towing a car.
Regarding directional signals in side view mirrors, we have a local shop in Raleigh that replaces the factory glass with mirrors which have a red LED arrow.
The mirror glass is made by Belkin.
I'm sure other cities have shops that can do this.
My Expedition XLT came with heated mirrors, but no XLT models have turn signals.
Mine do now!!!
And the heating elements on the new Belkin mirrors are larger than those from Ford.
They clear the glass in seconds.
My Expedition has a towing package that includes those over sized mirrors that Ford doesn't make anymore.
No problem for Belkin.
It was done for under $500.
