2006 Ford Expedition SUV Eddie Bauer 4dr SUV 4WD (5.4L 8cyl 4A)

Review

Wanted one for a long time and finally could afford it. Love the size. I'm a big guy so it is very comfortable for me. Love the sound system. Subwoofer is great. DVD player is great too. Mine is loaded. Being a big guy, the A/C & heated seats take a while to feel them working but it's a nice feature. I'm realistic about gas mileage. It's a big truck, what do you expect? Stock tires are TERRIBLE! BEWARE! Mine cupped at 13,000 miles! Also, there's an annoying ticking noise coming from around the moonroof. Dealer said they need to schedule a day to find it. Overall, love my truck. Wish Ford would sell with suitable tires. I'm upgrading to 24" rims and tires anyway.

Best Features

DVD/ audio system, A/C heated seats, power fold 3rd row, 40/20/40 2nd row.

Worst Features

TIRES, TIRES, TIRES! Build quality. Should not hear ticking and/or rattling from such an expensive vehicle.

2006 Ford Expedition SUV King Ranch 4dr SUV 4WD (5.4L 8cyl 4A)

Review

The Expedition is a solid ride, and with the King Ranch package feels like a luxury car, but with all the SUV advantages. It also has power to spare and handles really well for its size. It's a great looking vehicle!

Best Features

The special leather seats, the wood grain steering wheel (with audio and climate controls), the sunroof, and the automatic third row seat controls.

Worst Features

A third cup holder in the second row seats, and a built in phone system like Onstar.

2006 Ford Expedition SUV XLS 4dr SUV 4WD (5.4L 8cyl 4A)

Review

Shopped for tow vehicle. Compared Yukon and Tahoe. For the price, it was a "no brainer". Upgraded ugly stock rims and added step bars and floor mats (all aftermarket). The vehicle handles great for a big SUV. Engine is adequate and tows better than others in its class. The whining about fuel mileage on a vehicle this size is pointless. It's what you can expect. Overall a very good choice for towing and a large interior.

Best Features

Road handling, towing ability, seats, basic sound system is very good.

Worst Features

So far none. I got more than I paid for.

2006 Ford Expedition SUV Limited 4dr SUV (5.4L 8cyl 4A)

Review

After trading a 2004 Trailblazer I was delightfully impressed with the Expedition's driveability and handling. The turning radius and tracking are very impressive for a vehicle this size. It is very assuring to know of the vehicles impressive safety record as well as the curtain air bags. Very good visibility due to height of vehicle and the large foldable mirrors. Heated and cooled seats are comfortable and very adjustable. Great versatility with auto folding rear seats and manually folding mid seats. Hauled large patio set with ease. Gas mileage is better than expected with 17.5 MPG in mixed driving. Have not done trip only yet. So far I love the overall size and comfort of the 2006 Expy!

Best Features

Foldable mirrors (helps to get it into garage), stereo system - but Sirius on backorder, foldable seats, info center, driving stability, and backup safety system.

Worst Features

Sirius on backorder, running boards too narrow, no OnStar-like system, and a little choppy on uneven terrain.

Review

This is a great family vehicle if you have more than 4 members. It has lots of storage room and with the DVD system keeps the kids quiet all day and night on those long family trips. Could be better on gas. If gas was cheaper we would drive it all of the time. The heated and air conditioned seats are nice. Power 3rd row is a nice feature when loading and unloading. Would buy another if gas was cheaper or Ford made one in a hybrid like the Escape. But think they lost on the next buy because of gas.

Best Features

3rd row power seat, heated and A/C front seats. DVD system is best I have heard. Room is unbeatable.

Worst Features

Gas mileage. Get approximately 18 miles per gallon. Need to improve the power windows; roll up too slow. As big as it is should put standard DVD screens in the back also for the kids. One screen is not enough.
