I was able to fix the problem for my '99 Expedition. The problem is caused by water leaking into the dash area from under the windshield's rubber seal on the driver side. Be happy they will pay 50%. My 2004 EXP XLT with 113,000 the truck just stopped going one day with no warning would not take off from a stop sign. Bearing failure within transmission gearset cost $2800 for a full rebuild. At least I now have 75,000 miles in which to destroy it again and get a free (ha ha) rebuild. Than it will only be $1400 per transmission.

Back up sensors are probably a wire shorting somewhere, one place to look is where the wiring harness goes into the driver side tail light. i replaced my fuel pump and that wasn't the issue. Turns out it was the fuel pump driver module located in the rear of the truck under the frame. Terrible design by ford to put an aluminum driver module against the steel frame. My module had a hole eaten right through it due to corrosion. Just received word from Ford that they will not honor damages and transmission from a similar incident which happened to my family. Our 2008 King Ranch jumped and rolled from park into reverse while running. Thankful that no one was injured. OK, I just fixed the fuel pump problem with my 05 Expedition. I replaced the fuse box that contains the built in fuel pump relay. The relay is mentioned as a non servicable part in the owners manual-R303. To replace this relay, you have to replace the fusebox. I can remove the fuse box in 5 minutes. I bought the new fusebox at the Ford Dealer for $175.00 plus tax. There ... Read More

Ha to add insult to injury I found out the first Ford dealer totally lied to me about it being a fuel pump. It was a sending unit and it was fixed by the Ford dealer that took the truck in trade - a 45.00 part!!! As far as I understand, it was just a visual inspection of the control. I don't think a bench test was performed on the control unit. A bench test may be worth a shot, but the labor on that would be expensive since the control unit is so well hidden. Thanks. I am aware of this possible problem. My understanding is that that electronic part is subject to cracking and erosion that allows moisture to enter, fry the circuits, and make the pump malfunction. I think that if you follow the instructions in the manual for checking and filling the transmission with more fluid, your transmission will work just fine. i had a similar noise and noticed it was when i tried to switch the rear air source from the top vents to the floor vents. the clicking noise was the rear air door actuator. i took it in and they fixed it free of charge, under warranty.

I've got 7500 miles on my 2005 Expedition. Two things I've noticed, and one is that it idles to low (so it seems). as the 2005 EB-KR I just bought is pretty much the same as the 04 from what Ive been told, I can personally state that the engine noise on my 05 seems a bit loud. Anyone know where to get cheap chrome roof racks for an 04' Expedition?
Hey, I went to the Ford Dealership and they quoted me about $750. Does anyone know where I might be able to get them any cheaper? These racks are as of now only available on 2005 Limited Expeditions, which I believe is why they are so expensive. Any ideas? Thanks, Anastasia

I had an Audivox in my last truck and it worked without a hitch. You should be able to get a good feel for the style you want and what the ballpark figures are. I'm in the middle of negotiating a lease on another Expedition. I'm debating whether I should wait until the 2006 models come out vs. getting into a 2005. The residual value on the 2005 is 47%. Expeditions and brake dust problems
OK here is the answer. As I mentioned in a previous post about swapping the factory metallic brake pads on my expedition over to the 100% true cereamic pads from ceramicool, well they are just fantastic, not only did the annoying sqeaking stop, but the run so much cleaner. My dusting problem has for the most part disappeared. No dusting and no brake noise! I'm a very happy camper these days. ... Read More

The Ford Expeition brake pads were changed to some ceramic version at Job 2 date (say around 12/04) for the 2005 Expedition models. Local Ford dealer shop manager says the downside of the new ceramic pads is more brake noise. He said Ford would not replace mine with the cermaic type at no charge. In #842 I mentioned a rear end whine and all that Ford has said, and how they plan to fix. Today, the dealer installed a new rear end with heavy duty bearings and no more whine. 5,000 miles from now I will let you know. They have replacement bearings for Expeditions and will replace them free. I also replaced the continental tires with Michelin SUV 17" tires and I like them ... Read More

At 5,000 miles it developed a whine around 40 mph. The dealer says Ford has a problem which came about when they made the Expedition larger. It seems to be the engine that's the problem. It feels powerful at parking lot speeds to the point almost being jumpy, but once you are moving at road speeds and want to accelerate, there isn't enough reserve power, so you have to floor it and get a bunch of engine noise at that point.
